M7 Strut Re-Inforcement Plates

Thanks to all for a great BG Mini Club meeting on Tuesday.
It was a pleasure meeting everyone.
Questions:
1.Does anyone have M7 Strut Re-Inforcement Plates on their car? How important are these types of plates? Are the easy to install?
2. Just about to buy a Megan Racing cat back. This this something I can install? If not, can someone recommend an installer in Louisville?
3. Considering lowering with HSport springs or similar. If I do this, what other changes also need to be done? Assume 16" wheels with 205/50/16.

Look forward to seeing everyone at a drive or meeting soon (mod-party?).

Fritz

Several of us have the M7 plates and bar. Cigar Guy has just the plates and would be willing to sell his, since he installed coil overs.

No other mods necessary for the springs.

1) Lots of info on the M7 plates. Easy to install , look race, function adaqute.

2) The Megan cat back is pretty straight forward r & r job with basic tools. if you can turn a wrench you can do it yourself. But have a friend around for moral support and to drink your beer.

3) After installing the spring you really should get it aligned

Most of all have fun with your mods

1. alot of us have these plates along with the bar. The install is pretty straight forward: remove nuts, place plate and replace nuts. They aren't necessarily important but they are a preventive measure against mushroming.
2. cat back can be installed by you if you have basic knowledge of mechanics. They are usually a bolt on kit. If you want someone to install, any auto shop can do it. Cost should be hour to two hours labor time.
3. nothing else is needed with the springs. One thing you might want to consider is changing your rear sway bar while your changing out the springs.

We have the M7 SRPs (no bar) on our '06 MC. As Uncl3 says, remove nuts, place SRPs on shock tower, install nuts and torque to proper setting. Done in less than three minutes. This all assumes you have basic handtools and know how to use them.
Good luck.

Be careful during install on torquing the nuts when putting them back on. The studs can be easily stripped. If memory serves, I think proper torque is an amazingly low 20lbs.

Since you have a Cooper go for the plates, they will help. I stock them at the Indy shop.
