Oil Filter?

Hi All,

I'm about ready to change out the break-in oil. Is there a local Little Rock/Conway source for the oil filter element?

There is no real break-in oil in your Mini. It is German Castrol and you can get that or Mobil 1 in most auto parts stores and even WalMart. I changed Artoo's oil at 5000 and have done an oil and filter change at 5000 mile intervals since and he now has close to 80,000 miles without even a hint of an engine hiccup.

Filters, IMO, are best purchased from the dealer. I have also gotten them online from Morristown Mini and their eBay store for a good price.

Motor On!

Rich

hey FlynG, if you are still under warranty, you can go to Roadshow and they do it for free. I know that gas over and back isn't, but while it's there they check everything over and FIX anything that needs fixin'. I have always had them do it while under warranty and they caught a few things before they turned into problems. Schedule it for Sat. and turn it into a weekend trip. Memphis has some neat stuff to visit. Just a thought.

Yup, it's under warranty. But I'm just changing out the oil early. I'm guesstimating about 1500 miles (already!!) or so this weekend.

Looks like NAPA gold (Wix) is going to get the nod with A3 rated Mobil 1.

I will probably be going over to Memphis or Dallas for the weekend for service down the road. That is a good idea. I have training in Dallas a couple of times a year so that would be a reimbersed trip too.
I'm hoping to make that work out this next spring/summer.

Watch the Napa filters. The first one went on fine, the second time was a little different. We put it all back together and she was leaking when we checked her. Come to find out the o ring messed up. So when you do change it make sure you don't break the old o ring and don't throw it away. I know get my oil filter form MINI Mania. If you go to our web site, click on links and go to their web site from there. They keep track of purchases from clubs links.
That Castrol Synthetic oil, is not all German made oil. Most of what you buy has a mixed blend base, even though it says it's all synthetic the base is not. Only some Autozones carry the European made Castrol Synthetic oil which is 100% synthetic. If you do a thread search here on NAM you will find many, many oil topics. Also bobtheoilguy.com is a good source for types of oils, benefits.... I'm using Royal Purple, but I also autox occassionally.

Yup, i was going to edit post about the Wix/Napa Gold filter. It does NOT fit! They said it was for 07/08 originally, but it actually is for a pre 07.

I guess I'll be doing the Mini Mania route too....
