Traveling to Mtn Home, any MINI's in the area?

My parents moved to Mountain Home last year and Im finally taking my MINI on its first road trip. I was hoping/wondering if I would see many MINI's in the area. Is there anything I should watch out for or know before I set out?
Thanks!

Mountain Home

I moved from Mountain Home to Rogers, AR a little over 9 months ago. You will pass Big Creek golf course - I still have a home there. I am going back there on/about June 5th to see some friends.

Highway 412 is notorious for radar traps, particularly in Cotter and Gassville, small towns on the West side of Mountain Home. I would stay a max of 5 over everywhere. Mountain Home is in Baxter County and is a dry county. Local law enforcement is very active after 9pm.

I doubt you will see any Minis - the nearest dealers are in Memphis and Little Rock. You will see a lot of pickup trucks!!

Neat area - I would probably still live there if not for following my ex-wife here so that my oldest son and I could live near my youngest son. The good news is I met a great lady and got married on March 21st. You make your own luck, right?

Let me know if I can assist you further - if you are around June 5...you may see me!

Thanks for the tips, Ill be sure to mark them down on the map and will slow down in those areas. My Dad also warned me that the police are pretty active in the area. Im looking forward to my 1st visit to Arkansas and glad I get to do it in the MINI. Unfortunately I wont be there on the 5th, we will be up there the week of the 16th. Thanks again for the help!

Trinity,
Just got back last night from ATL. Went to the Blade show at Cobb Galleria. It was VERY COOL. I live in Hot SPrings, which is about 50 miles south of Little Rock, so I'm a pretty good ways from Mtn. Home, but there are some WONDERFUL roads in that area! You might try to take a drive up through Mountain View on the way, there is a road outside Mtn. View called Hwy 341, it runs from between Fifty Six (town's name, no kidding) and Big Flat north to Norfork. Personally, I'd take it, while it's a little out of the way, it's not too far off the mark and it's a GREAT road. It runs through the National Forest, it's patrolled, but not heavily.

If I were you, when I got to Little Rock, I would take hwy 67/167 north from LR to Cabot, then Hwy. 5 north from there up to Mountain View. You will hit Hwy 14 (this is pretty nice too, but has traffic. If you like caves, check out Blanchard Springs Caverns, VERY COOL, further down Hwy 14) north of Mtn. View turn west (left) and go to 341, turn right and hang on! You will soon have your own little roller coaster ride! Hwy. 341 is about 28 miles of twisties. At the north end, you will run back into hwy 5 which you can continue to take on in to Mtn. Home (about 10 or 12 miles further north. 341 is well worth the little detour! Have fun, wish I was closer! One of our members owns the pharmacy in Mtn. View. It's not hard to find (the pharmacy) it's right off the square, it has a great soda fountain in it, anyway if Dana's not busy, he might run 341 with you, if he does, REALLY hang on, he knows it inside out and sideways, ha!

Hope you enjoy your time in AR. By the way, there is no MINI dealer in Little Rock. The BMW guys won't touch a MINI at this time, at least. The only dealer is in Memphis, but they are GREAT!

Have fun!

Back from Mountain Home today. When you go make sure to visit the Dam on Lake Bull Shoals. They have had a lot of rain. The water level has never been higher. At one point they had all the generators running and the sluice gates open. Heck of a sight! The visitors center above the dam is well worth a visit.
