View Full Version : 2006 Food Lion AutoFair - Lowes Motor Speedway 9/16
SSSSSSSS 07-08-2006, 06:58 AM Here's the latest info on the AutoFair on 9/16. The attachment has the reminders for the show from the folks in charge as well as a map showing where we'll be located in the speedway.
We have to be at the speedway no later than 7:30 AM and in the display area ready to show by 8:00 AM. The plan is to meet in the Starlight Stadium theater parking lot at at 7:00 and caravan from there. The theater is located just off northbound I-485 on northbound Salisbury Road on the right. The address is 11240 N Tryon St. Tryon changes over to Salisbury Rd in this area. It'll be the first road to the right after exiting 485 about 150 yds from the exit ramp.
At the theater I'll hand out the admission tickets (2 per car) and car parking passes (1 per car). The parking passes should be affixed to the windshield on the lower left side, basically on top of the inspection sticker. It's supposed to be out of the wiper arc but that's not possible on a Mini so we'll just live with it in the lower left corner. If you have a cell phone, please bring it with you and note the number on the parking pass so the speedway staff can get in touch with you should there be a problem and you're not with your vehicle. BTW, turning it on would be a good idea too. :-)
An additional note, Luke (AKA the Prez) will be bringing Bojangles bisquits to help with the hongries in the AM. Also, bring a cooler with drinks to keep yourselves hydrated. A lounge chair would be a good idea as well as it'll be a long day.
Should you have any questions give me a call at 704/708-5057.

Please add me to the list.
Thanks for heading up. I think this is the best non driving event that M2C2 participates in. It is so much fun to show off our MINIs. I have really enjoyed the past AutoFairs getting to meet people from other car clubs and looking at thousands of cars on display.
Please let me know if you want to start a list of M2C2 members that want to eat in the Speedway Club after the AutoFair ends at 6:00 pm. We have had a good turn out for the last two. Here is a link to the Speedway Club for more information.

SoCar S 07-19-2006, 05:50 PM OK OK OK - Yes I have been elusive and hidden under a rock ... Truth is, I had to sell my company and detox from it a bit. Kids are now getting big, house is STILL under renovation. But the important thing ... the MINI made it throught the sell scratch free ... So I have been working on it, and would love to be able to show it off at this show ...

mininc 09-19-2006, 07:29 AM Midnight Dave
Thanks for stopping in and thanks for the pictures.
The Indi Blue MINI parked near the Speed Channel stage belongs to Mike Joy. I got a chance to talk MINIs with him for a few minutes before he filmed at the 1/5 mile track behind the Speedway. On Sunday Mike Joy drove his BMW 6 Series and had it parked where the MINI had been.
MidnightDave 09-19-2006, 09:22 PM George, that's a relief it didn't go on the block, there were four cars in a row there, an old Ford on the block as below, then a Gremlin (!), then a Corvair, then the Mini, so I assumed the worst, that it was fourth in line...

Joe, I started taking pics when I got into four wheeling and it just stuck--just like my nickname, MidnightDave 'cause that's usually when I post them! LOL
Trainman 09-20-2006, 06:58 PM I always did like the styling of the Gremlin..
Nooooo..:eek2: Don't ya'll start on me!!
Miniwildcat 09-20-2006, 08:00 PM Well it is kinda like a weird looking MINI with a giant bonnet. Really not too far from an original clubman  ......just kidding
BLUCOOPR 09-22-2006, 03:21 PM Hate to say it but the little Gremlin with the small v-8 was an awsume piece of machinery!!!!! My buddy owned one and it damn near killed us all! SEE YOU ALL THIS SATURDAY AT ANNUAL MEETING!! LOTS OF DOOR (MINI TYPE) PRIZES!!!!!!!!!
MidnightDave, thank you for the picture. I was trying to find out how the badges looked with the rally lights. Seems that I have to buy a second holder.
