The first location we went to, we only got one picture taken before security kicked us out for not having permission to photograph on their property. Luckily for us, that first picture was usable.
We relocated a mile or so away and found another great spot.. After getting setup and taking numerous shots, the security guard from the adjacent complex came over to talk to us. He said that initially he thought our car might be broken down, but now he was just curious what we were doing. We chatted for a bit. He had other rounds to make, so he left us alone and we went back to shooting pictures.
A few minutes later a couple guys drive up in a Chrysler Crossfire and ask if we're doing action shots. My first reaction was to think they were going to get in the way and wanted to watch and learn. It turns out they were doing the same thing and had just gotten kicked out of another near by parking structure by security. So we both wound up working in the new area.
Wow, they look really cool! I'm really glad I brought that dark jacket--makes me more invisible.
I still can't believe what a coincidence that was. Of all the places that you can go shooting in LA, what are the chances of two people ending up on opposing parking structures---getting kicked out of there, then driving to another spot a mile away, and ending up at the same location to also do rigged action shots??? Funny!!
I love the fourth pic...its beautiful. A great angle for the mini
I agree about this fourth pic.
After taking my 15 year-old to the Getty yesterday . . .
This pic has the appearance of having been shot within museum walls. The strong composition, well-grounded white balance, and the wicked use of ambient light all contribute to this photograph's excellence!
Great shots, I like the fog shot the best out of the first three, but yes the 4th is by far the best. I love the numerous horizontal lines in the background.
blacknblue: Thanks. That's really nice of you to say.
jwardell: That effect is created by dragging out the exposure time. The lights are stationary and the lines are swept out as the car moves during the exposure.
