I have a D70 and my father has the D100... They are both great cameras.. very user friendly. I love it... Once it arrives, take some shots and post them up here!!! I love seeing photos that other photographers (pro or not)...
Welcome to the D-SLR Money Pit! You're going to love it!
I have been a happy D70 user for a little over a month now. I wish I had a 2 GB card, but that's going to have to wait for now.
Yeah, I decided to go for the 2GB card and hold off on other stuff (mainly a second lens, which I'm sure I'll fold and buy soon enough anyway). And I figure with the autocross season winding down I need something else to spend all my money on. I already need to go out and buy a bag and tripod now... another couple hundred, plus I could use a set of filters, and the built in flash could surely use an upgrade, plus that telephoto lens, and software, and printing... AHH! I can see this is going to get ugly fast.
It goes fast... What kind of tripod are you thinking about getting? I have been using my old Bogen.. Its really beat up, about 15 years old and I think its been handed down a few times as well. I would be interested in picking up another one soon... I guess I would stick with Bogen just because this has taken such a beating and it still looks fairly good.
Just got it! In about a half hour of fiddling (without reading the book ) I think I've got a pretty good handle on how to adjust everything... certainly a very intuitive and easy set of controls!
I'm going to head out in a little while and try to get some night time pictures with it, since its dark. Then later tonight I'll sit down and read the whole book. Ahh, its good to finally have it.
Adorama has the ML-L3 Remote Shutter Release for the D70 in stock. It's been a hard item to find, so if you think you might be doing night photography I'd recommend it (it'll make bulb mode a little easier than the penny/rubber band trick). My remote should show up here on Friday.
BAH! Everyone keeps telling me about that shadow... I did it on purpose. Well, more than did it on purpose, I noticed it and didn't mind so I moved it so it lined up decently in the shot and stepped out. Apparently it doesn't have the artistic touch I thought it did. If I didn't notice don't you think I'd be in there somewhere too?
