First I wanted to thank everyone who has ordered their copy of the Malibu Canyon DVD, and to let you know all the orders up to now have been processed and will be going out today. I had a one day delay due to a technical reason. Me being the perfectionist I am, I wanted to make some changes that forced me to have to make the DVD's over again, but I felt it was worth it.
Secondly, when you play the DVD, the movie will begin immediately, but be sure to hit the Title/Menu button to see the other DVD features. I spent many months on making this both exciting and informative both inside and out, so I hope you will feel the same.
Thirdly, when I shot this video, I utilized an early developmental version of the forthcoming VacuCam, and dubbed it the littleMINIcam. Thus, the picture quality is not as high as what you will get today. I also refer to the littleMINIcam as the VacuCam G1 (Generation 1), so I hope that clears any confusion.
Finally, as a special bonus, I included a little gift, courtesy of my alter ego, the OctaneGuy.
Enjoy! And please post feedback/comments here once you've had time to view the DVD.
i havent heard much about this video but could you tell us a little about what is contained inside. there was a video the mr2 people put out a while back which had runs and interveiews with people and they talk about their cars and what they've done to them. im just wondering if its like that. thanks...
Sure! If you watch the teaser, it's basically just that, but more of it. It documents one run throughout the Malibu canyons--from our meeting point at a local park and up the canyons, and down through some of the tightest twisties in the state. By the end of Tuna canyon (the final run and the last scene on the teaser), everyone's brakes are smoking.
The video also contains extra footage of experimental cameras and details on how I rigged up the cameras using materials I had around my shop. We're talking about as primitive as can be---such as a cardboard box with lots of tape to hold things down. There is also an extra scene that I put in the Deleted Scene section that suffered from radio frequency issues, but was probably some of the most dramatic footage, so I pulled it out from the main video, and put in the Menu so you can select it separately. I actually used a portion of it in the teaser.
This video is purely about Motoring with 8 MINI's, and the technology behind it. I don't go into the specifics about each car or the drivers as we pretty much were just a bunch of strangers who got together one day, based on a post on MINI2 and met for a canyon drive. I really had no idea what would come out of it, but evidently this video shows we had a blast.

Thanks for your support. I'm looking forward to making more.
And just to give a preview of what's to come, the next video to be released soon, is a MINI Detailing Video I did with Meguiars. I'm just waiting for some approval stuff, before it appears here on NAM.
Hope that helps explain things duvinclunk!

You're welcome! I've heard they can, but I haven't tried it myself. Based on DVDHelp.com, the Playstation 2 does support DVD-R's. Have a look at this link:
Well the reviews are coming in! I tried to post this one in the store, but it doesn't show the whole thing which is good, and bad! It's my feeling that a review, isn't a review without talking about the pluses and minuses, so thanks Jazmini for taking the time to write me and tell me your thoughts!

It's a fun DVD to watch! I like the way you had the camera by the wheel and the scenes of the Malibu canyon were really awesome. The scenes looking to the back were also just as cool to watch. I liked the bonus and extras, too. So, thanks, good video. However, the picture quality was not up to DVD (i.e., digital) standards, and was a little fuzzy. I could not see a lot of the details. You could also hear little bits now and then of people talking. The music was pleasant, but I preferred the sound of the engine. Mixing that up was good I admit (i.e., music and engine sounds). I would not have minded hearing the people talk if you could hear more clearly the conversation. These are all the plusses and minuses of your DVD experience. - Jazmini
