Information about this header http://www.northamericanmotoring.com...d.php?t=120252 , $850 shipped in the U.S., includes cat and re-shaped OEM heat shield. Modification of conventional cat-backs is required to fit this header.
The header is too loud for me. I had an effective sound level reducing resonator but it failed, twice. The available space behind the cat for a resonator is very limited and I’m not willing to expend more effort to make one fit.
The header is on its way to Evans Performance in Georgia for a fresh ceramic coating so it will be in “as new” condition cosmetically.

Failed as in? Curious as mine still seems to be just fine (8k mi) ... One heck of a deal on an awesome header!!!! Post it on the ATL board as well, it might not leave Ga.
Resonator #1 – something came loose within, it would flap in the flow and at high rpm made a noise like a gas powered model airplane, when tapping the body a rattling sound could be heard; #2 the same noise when revving, but no rattling when the body was rapped. Both were Flowmaster Hushpower II 2.25 size models purchased from Summit Racing. To me it appeared the first one had separated at the internal middle seam (transverse plane) so the two halves were behaving like flapping lips. #2 failed much sooner than #1.
I’m not surprised your Hushpower is functioning well, I’ve not heard of any other failures and its durability is one of the reasons I chose it.
The header is like new again; in addition to a fresh ceramic coating inside and out, it now has a special ultra high temperature barrier sealant coat internally.
If I didn't mention this before, the heat shield is ceramic coated also.
Longer primary & secondary tubes without the restrictive pre-cat are beneficial to both forced induction (MCS) and normally aspirated (MC) applications, and sequential paring pays extra dividends for the normally aspirated Cooper. Less expensive headers (Asian knock-offs) are characteristically peaky performers because their designs lack the mid-range torque friendly tuned tube lengths of this custom build. If you want your MINI to sound like no other, this header is ideal.
The Milltek resonator would be removed. I know of someone who ran a similar configured header without a resonator while using the Milltek’s cans and found it too loud for daily use. To this date no one using the 2.5 inch Hushpower resonator has experienced a failure and it is the preferred choice of others running Juston’s header with the Milltek cat back. For a fee, the Milltek resonator section can be modified by Juston.
Another option to placing a small resonator post-cat is to install a longer (more effective) resonator behind the mid hangers. I’m unfamiliar with the Cabrio’s rear section so I don’t know what would be encountered with that approach.
Of course, if it is noise you want, all this is a moot point and all that would be needed is 2.5 inch, 2-hole flange and pipe replacement, for the post-cat section.
It's worth repeating, tuned length tubes make fat midrange power.
Some resonator alternatives are available from Magnaflow. A 14 inch long 4 inch OD (18 inch shown below) would fit easily because the body will clear the middle exhaust hanger bracket making end length less critical. A 14 inch long, 5 inch OD body would need a skillful weld on the flange to add enough clearance between the body and bracket. The resonator on the bottom would fit with a half inch to spare.
The sound is unlike any commercially available header, the benefits of tuned length tubes are many, and my price is competitive with other header & cat offerings.
I can attest to the effectiveness of this header.
I have one of the earlier prototypes still on my car. It does increase the power down low and up top.

and for what it's worth, I did a dyno tune for my car, and it started to choke at 6000 RPM. I've got enhanced intake & head, but the OBX/One-ball just doesn't have the balls for high flow at high RPM. My car topped out at 194 WHP.

What head are you running?
