I talked with Mark Gerloff, the MOB GM, this morning & they are planning a big Grand Opening Party at the new dealership from 6-10PM on Thursday, October 15th!!
They would like to do a MINI parade if we can get enough MINIS to show up. There will also be food & a band. We will get more details as we go along but can we get some commitments from people to participate in the parade so we will have a good showing & do ourselves proud? You have 3 months notice to set aside the time to participate. That should be plenty of time so we can have a massively impressive turnout
I will use this thread to keep us updated as I hear things & I also told Mark to come on over here, join NAM, & keep us updated too
If you could post in this thread your commitment to participate in the parade &/or go to the Grand Opening & also if your plans change. I will keep a running list in this post so we can see how we are looking
You don't want to miss the Grand Opening of MINI of Birmingham. It will be like no other car event you have ever been to. We have some really special things planned that are very MINI! In the mean time, feel free to stop by and say "Hi" and check out the new dealership. Plan to have lunch in the new "Cooper's Corner" restaurant (opening soon, we are a little behind schedule for permits) that is located in the dealership.
My car enjoyed several of the free flatbed trips to Global (MINI cited "undrivable" issues), but now I'm over 50k it'll be nice to have another local shop option.
TT- what's with your new sig? Get a new MINI or SO I don't know about?

Louispup... I somehow got myself a new SO He is not fully here yet (as in living in AL) but he should be by the first of August. You will meet him when we have an outing sometime. He will be the one with the funny British accent

Just bought my mini (used) a couple of weeks ago but the "vehicle check" light and the "front brake" service light have already come on. Called MOB just now (205-745-4700) and set up an appt for next Saturday (7/18) to have it serviced. Yea! During they week, they offer shuttle service to drop you off at work. And also to pick you up (nice, Honda didn't do that).
Put me down for a L and XL. I'm not picky on the color.
By the way, we are having a little get together on Thursday night (July 16th). We are sponsoring a MINI for the Porsche 250 race out at Barber Motorsports Park this weekend. The car and driver (Jade Buford) will be @ the dealership from 6-8pm on Thursday. We will have burgers, dogs, soft drinks, and chips so come hungry. This is a very informal get together so come by and hang with us. Stop by to see the new dealership and check out a fully modded race ready MINI. It would be cool to have a bunch of customer cars in the lot with the race car
