Registration and Tags

Hi y'all-
Since most of us bought our MINIs out of state, I was wondering what documents I'll need to register, etc. I called and am not so sure about the person I spoke with--I was told that I'd need the title, but since my lienholder has that, I'm not sure that info. in correct.
Anybody remember what all you had to have?
Thanks!

  • Title or MSO properly assigned to you (Title Application from your bank)
  • Bill of Sale or gift affidavit (Any sale for less than $50.00 must be written as a "gift")
  • Valid Photo ID
  • The vehicle must be present at our office for a VIN inspection or an Inspection form completed and signed by an Alabama Law Enforcement Officer
  • If there are two owners and their names are joined by "and", both owners must be present to sign the title application or one has to send an original notarized Power of Attorney. If their are two owners with no connecting word, it is considered "and". If names are joined by "or", only one owner is needed to register the vehicle. The owner(s) signing the title application must have a valid photo ID.

I bought new & it's been a while but I think all I had to bring was my bill of sale from the dealership. The lady behind the counter went outside & verified the vin #. Then I paid around $20 for a new title, a ton of sales tax (over $900 I think ) & was on my way

good luck. they were horrible at green springs office with my mini. make sure your bill of sale says the exact words "bill of sale" somewhere on it. they said they didn't receive my mso docs from the dealer even though i had proof they were signed for from fedex. it took 2 trips, and dealing with 3 different people there and several calls and faxes between myself and mini of south atlanta while i was there to get it straightened out.

they were horrible to me.

Ahhh yet another plus in the good column for Shelby County living. It was quite easy breezy in Shelby County & I am lucky to have the Shelby satellite office about 2 miles from my house
