An Intruder in your midst

Hello-

You've got a spy amongst you and didn't even know it. I'll be driving down to "Minis on the Dragon" in a 2011 Ford Fiesta, albeit with a few Minis in tow, to do a piece for an automotive publication.

The car obnoxious green with a big "Cityscape" decal on the side. If you happen to run into me anywhere on this trip, stop and say HI. Maybe if you're interesting enough you can worm your way into the feature. I'm Andy. We'll be leaving Detroit here at about 3:00PM, so expect us to be terrorizing the place about Friday morning.

See ya there.

I was wondering why someone would put a cityscape on the side of their car.
I did see your Ford in front of the Adventure Center near the vendors area.
But I think if you look around you'll find that you were not the only spy.
There was a GMC Yukon that was claiming to be a Giant MINI Cooper and
there was also a white van with bonnet stripes and a fake MINI logo on the
bonnet and a Chrysler of unknow type.

The white van is the Detroit Tuned support vehicle and the Chrysler (aka CooperFail) is a friend's rental whose MINI got hit just before they left for MOTD.

I saw the Fiesta but I hadn't seen this post until now!

Bummer about your friends MINI not being able to make MOTD because of the accident.
Mine was hit by my niece two days before MOTD but it was mainly
Cosmetic damage to the rear bumper so I was able to bring it to MOTD.
I still can't understand how anyone can hit a parked car..

I saw the green imposter I wondered if it was lost. Kelvin is back home in Ohio and all cleaned up from the days of rain. I have pictures of the GMC at home too, I loved it.

I saw a blue Dodge Caliber with "bonnet" stripes at the general store too, but I didn't get a picture of it.

Don't know who he was (license plate D STIG, right?), but he was hanging out with the black Dodge SRT-4 (i.e. Neon on steroids). They were driving the Dragon together - I saw them out there on Saturday.

The SRT-4 I can sorta understand. It's cheaply made, but pretty dang quick (in a straight line at least). The Saturn just looked way out of place. A 4 door passenger commuter car with a coffee-can tailpipe, trying to "hang" with a bunch of sport (and sporty) cars?

Here are photos of the Dodge aka "Cooper Fail". The driver was staying with my wife and I in a cabin. His Cooper was hit the weekend before the Dragon. So he made the best of it, with what he had as a rental.

That's cool. At least he made the best of it. Right down to the Actual Size decal. I love it!

Reminds me of OctaneGuy and his rental cars for MOTD after flying in to TN from CA - he always had fun with it too, adding vinyl stripes and other things.

That Fiesta driver was overheard saying "clubmans suck" repeatedly. I don't know what kind of Fiesta ambassador he is, but ragging other people's cars is no way to make friends.

Loved the Cooper Fail decals and that GMC was funny!

Perhaps, he should join our discussion on the FOTD thread.
