Just left Fontana today and we have the following arrangements made for 2010:
Wednesday - April 15th - 8:00am: Fontana will open reservations for 2010 for those wanting to rebook the same room/unit/cabin as they have for 2009. They will also hold 2009 cost for us too.
After Monday - May 4th:(that's the day after the Dragon) Fontana will open up registration for all rooms to anyone. So if you haven't rebooked your room, all bets are off and all is fair game
Fontana will hold their current pricing for us till March 1, 2010. After prices will go to the current prices at that time.
I would suggest we help them out by waiting till Wednesday and NOT calling before
They told me I couldn't make our reservations yet.

It really does depend on the person you talk to.
I was on a waiting list for a cabin to exchange for my lodge room and
while visiting Fontana Village this past summer with another MINI friend
she managed to secure a cabin for MOTD.
So much for the waiting list...
That was why I gave it a try after seeing the previous poster get a reservation.
I've had an issue in the past where I tried to make a reservation and was told the cabin was available but they were having a computer issue. Then a couple of hours later they told me they were sold out and I couldn't make a reservation, only to have someone else get a reservation for the same cabin the next day(after I was told again that they were sold out).

Me too. I think I finally managed to "secure" a King room at the Inn for 2010 as well... 2009 is my 5th year in a row staying at Fontana, and my 3rd staying at the Inn (first 2 years were in cabins)... and I'm still on the "waiting list" for a King instead of 2 Queens this year. Seems that 6th time is the charm - sheesh!

Wow. I actually traded my King away for two queens. I wish that I would have known.
Booked the same cabin for 2010 when I check out today with an increase of $10.00 per day as a new rate only to come home and note that Snooter had been told they would hold the 2009 rates for us. Guess I'll have to call them on this. Anyone else get a different rate when they booked for next year on checkout?
they gave me some pricing when we spoke several weeks ago. They said they will hold the current 2009 cost till March 1st. (I not sure that is the same cost that you may have gotten earlier in the year. If you give me a day or two to find my notes (and sanity) I'll post up the pricing they gave me.
