Don't know it this will help...
I just had an '03 rear fog go out (remember, there are two). The same bulb works for the rear fog and the turn signal....just those two, though. The rear light assembly calls for P21W...the equivalent is 7506. Got 'em at the regular 'ol auto parts store.

does the pre 04 and 05 's still use the same bulb carrier? or will i have to order an 04 bulb carrier to work on my new tails??

I have gotten several LED bulbs from http://autolumination.com/.
I have replaced the red and amber corner markers with clear ones. When I did this I had to replace the clear bulbs with red and amber bulbs. For this I used LED bulbs instead of regular colored bulbs.
The bulbs for the corner markers are the 194 bulbs. I also replaced the front side marker bulbs with super white LED bulbs, also the 194 LED bulbs. Further more I have replaced the interior bulbs with the Xenon Super White Festoon Dome Light Bulbs # 212.
You should see about using some colored LED bulbs from them.
Here is a bulb chart they say are the numbers for all of the lights for a 2004 MINI Cooper (With HID (high intensity discharge) headlamps)
Low beam headlamp
HID-D2R

High beam headlamp
H7
H7ST Silverstar High Performance Halogen Upgrade: The Look of HID: Whitest, Brightest
H7CB Cool Blue Halogen Upgrade: White Hot; Super Cool; 100% Street Legal
H7LL Long Life Halogen: Lasts two and a half times longer

Parking light
2825

Front turn signal
7507A
7507AST Silverstar Signal Lighting: Complete the Look: Crisp, Clean, Style

Rear turn signal
7506
7506L Long Life Upgrade: Up to twice the life of the standard lamp

Tail light
7528

Stop light
7528

High mount stop light
%COM

Fog/Driving light
H11-55W

License plate
6418

Back up light
7506
7506L Long Life Upgrade: Up to twice the life of the standard lamp

Front sidemarker
2825

Dome light
6418

Step/Courtesy light
2825

I don’t know for sure since I have not replaced the tail light bulbs in my clear tail lights as they came as an assembly with the red and amber bulbs, but they say that the stock tail and stop lights use bulb # 7528. The equivalent LED bulb would be the 1157 bulbs. They have both LED and traditional colored bulbs so you should check them out to see if they have something that would work for you.
Good luck, Let us know how you make out.

The 6418 bulbs are 39mm = 1-1/2" Long. They are the 212 bulbs on the http://autolumination.com/ site.

Or you could get the complete interior xenon lighting kit from http://www.bimmian.com/MN.

In my experience, the LED replacement taillight bulbs I've seen have all been a lot dimmer than the bulbs they replaced. There is a reason those luxury cars have hundreds of LEDs--superbright LEDs are very expensive and need extensive heatsinking.

you can probably pick up some those polarg b1 hybrid or raybrig hyper white bulbs that fit the bulbs.. they are white in color, but when off they are blue

just fyi, you wont be able to see the colors during the day, so someone behind you will not be able to see you are braking!

if you want a red glow when on, but off it appear clear, i think b1 hybrid visual style is the one that looks like a chrome color when off, but can glow red when lit
