I am so embarressed as I on one of my runs trying to figure out my new Goodyear F1's, so lost it going into a turn, I drove in way to fast, and had to let off and grab it coming out of a turn and as you see. I did the unthinkable! Learned my lesson and thank GOD, no one was coming from other direction. I now know and should have known before last weekend the bounderies of the machine I have been driving.
Looks like you are trying to use your paint job as center-line camoflauge!

I agree. That photo is pretty cool with the black stripes on the car over the yellow stripes on the road and the yellow on the car over the black on the road. It is like the car is the negative image of the road.
My biggest post-Dragon fear every year is to come home and find that Killboy has posted a pic of me crossing the yellow line. I try soo hard to never even touch but I still worry. Public embarassment (and safety obviously ) is a good threat.
I caught Agranger (the organizer of the scenic drive) in probably his most embarrassing moment. And I have video to boot. He pulled off the road for a photo op and OOPS!!
It took 6 guys to get him out, but I guess it just goes to show you how great these little cars are! Here is a pic of the ruts after he got out.
He had so much mud in his tires, it even went through his wheels! But it still was a great time. And what a great story!
I guess we dodged that bullet. I'd like to know how they pull offenders over to issue citations without endangering lives...
In the new issue of Road & Track there's a two-page article (pp. 107-108) on "Tail of the Dragon, America's most addictive driving road?"
From the article:
"If someone gets hurt, it takes from 45 minutes to one hour to get an ambulance up here," says Lt. Ron Runyon, of the Blount County (Tennessee) Sheriff's Department. "I've worked up here for 10 years, and most of the people I've met are real nice. But I don't use radar, and if someone wanted to speed up this road, I wouldn't try to catch them. One of our officers once pursued a motorcycle and lost control of his car. He rolled it 75 feet off the road and onto its roof. Now we're here to keep the road safe and provide help," he says.
I was pretty embarassed at how dirty my poor car was...I washed it with the Palmolive they had and my wax was gone, and the dirt, bugs, etc...just seemed to stick to it! Plus I had a couple of scratches that I've sinced removed.
Now I know for next year, I'll bring my own car wash and maybe some wax too. Maybe some of you parked next to me just to make your car look REALLY clean!

i haven't washed my kar since i came home
i'm a scared a truck tire exploded & came apart and pleted my kar's nose/hood i'm afraid to see when the bugs end & the chips & scratchs start

That’s funny because my worst moment was several people walking by the car wash area and seeing me washing a car. At least I can claim it wasn’t mine, I told MINIclo I’d squirt her MCS down and found the secret wash area all locked up so I had to hang my head in shame and use the public one.
I will never live the humiliation down. :impatient :impatient :impatient
I went "off-roading" very briefly! On a beer run to Tapoco Lodge (they sell some nice imports) from Robbinsville, I decided to remove the MINI cap I keep over my Garmin Navi, and took my eyes off the road for no more than 2-3 seconds...BIG MISTAKE! As I looked up, I drove slightly into the gravelly shoulder, but corrected FAST! Poor sndwave was following me, and I am GLAD we didn't have our FRS radios on...I can only imagine the lecture...razz:o

They have a picture of that overturned cop car at the gift shop at the Crossroads of Time.

Even more than showing how great the cars are, it shows how great the drivers are! As soon as it happened, I looked up and saw at least 2 or 3 people documenting the event for me (thanks! I appreciate it! ). Then, without being asked, half a dozen guys came forward and gave me a push out. I thank you and Jango (the "Mud Wagon") thanks you.

I am SOOOOOO grateful that sndwave didn't have a camera or video cam running when I had my little off-roading incident!
