This past weekend was better then I ever could have imagined. Not only did I ask the greatest woman in the world to marry me, but the MOTD event was absolutely amazing!
Thanks to everyone who played any part in setting up and executing this weekend, you did an amazing job! Thanks to all the vendors for taking their time for installs and money to donate prizes!
Who would've thought I would be coming back to Wisconsin with both a modded girlfriend AND a modded MINI!
(Don't worry, the girlfriend got modded first! But the MINI handled the Dragon FAR better... the fiancé got very car sick.)
I think we encountered you guys on the trip down there. I was a PH/PH MCS and traveled with a CR/CR MCS. Sound familiar? There was definitely a cowboy-hatted lady in the passenger seat of the DS/B MCS we spotted on the highway.
Huge congrats. Fiancée and The Dragon?! What a weekend!
Hey Ben, it was good to meet you at the end of the Dragon run where Isabella wasn't looking so well. I'll send you the photo that was taken then. Best wishes to you two!
James

Ah Yes! That was us! It was a pleasure leading/trailing you guys for that stretch!
What a weekend, indeed! How am I going to top that next year?

The pleasure was all on this end! Sorry the soon-to-be-wifey was all pukey, next year she'll be a little more... hm... stable? (read: doped up )
Last year I brought my (then) fiancee up to the dragon to give her one last chance to re-think her decision to marry me. For some reason, she decided to go through with it!
Do what I did and get the extended unlimited mileage warranty on that fiancee.

I'd like to send a special thank you to everyone who stopped by the car to make sure I was OK.
James - I hope you didn't include my pale, dizzy self in the picture you're talking about.
And I'd like to state for the record I was never pukey...although I really, really felt like it.
Congratulations Ben and Jen! Loved the pictures in your link! Shea and I enjoyed meeting you both. Next time let's plan on doing a drive together.
Susan
P.S. I'd recommend the "less drowsy" formula of Dramamine. It worked well for me.
It was SO much fun meeting you guys, you really made our weekend so much more enjoyable! Jen and I were already talking about meeting up with you guys next year and driving down together and/or doing drives while down there. (unless of course I... erm... NEED... to make a trip to Helix before then )
Too bad you weren't able to hook up with the CMMC train coming or going to the Dragon. What a great way to finish off a great experience.
Thank you!
And that is definitely something we are thinking about for next year. This year we were a little short on time off from work, so we did a lot of late night driving, and we did it all in 1 day (nothing like a 13 hours drive)
Ben and Jen, we really did enjoy spending time with you.
I don't think you need the extended plan for Jen; she seems pretty low maintenance. You should be all set.
If you come to Helix, you can stay with us. It's only about an hour from our house. Of course I might have to take my Mini there as well when we go...
Nice website by the way, especially the picture of you. It's DY-NO-MITE!
Get Isabella some marazine, not as drowsy-making as dramamine, and you can drink with it and not pass out! I use marazine on boats and it works very well for motion sickness. Also, you can get a patch to put behind her ear...I saw at least one MINI person at Fontana Village wearing one.
From the Merck Manual:
Prevention and Treatment Prevention is key. Measures include
Choosing a seat where motion is felt least (such as the front seat of a car, a seat over the wings in an airplane, or the forward or middle cabin or upper deck of a ship)
Keeping the head and body as still as possible
Sitting face forward and in a reclining position
Keeping the eyes on the horizon or another distant, unmoving object
Not reading
Getting fresh air by opening a window, opening an air vent, or going to a ship's top deck
Not drinking alcoholic beverages and not smoking (both can aggravate nausea)
Eating small amounts of low-fat, starchy foods and not eating strong-smelling or strong-tasting foods
Avoiding food and drink on short airplane trips, especially on small airplanes

She's VERY low maintenance, besides, I wouldn't want the dealer touching her. I'll do all the work on her myself. (oh dear...)
Thank you for the offer, and of course, if YOU ever need a reason to go to Helix, let me know and I'll suddenly have a "need" to go to Helix, and then you can "escort" me there... Susan will never know... BREWHAHAHAHHA...
