Just thought i would share some of the days experiences since i have free WiFi at the hotel.
Day 1
Just a hair over a 11hr drive from South Florida into Robinsville, NC which is a beautiful area. Caught just a little bit of light rain here or there once we were in the mountains.
Here are some shots from the drive.
Once we arrived I quickly checked into my hotel in and took off for the Dragon since it was still dry and Rain is in the forcast! No shots today from the actual Dragon since i was a first timer and boy was it a work out! But there were amazing vista's on the other side.
Catching another MINI in action..
Couldn't resist!
Up at the Lookout... INCREDIBLE
Back at Fontana Village where some of the cars and MINI maniacs started gathering.... Yes thats only some
I officially declare this "MINI st."
I also had one of the most incredible and memorable drives chasing this Classic down one of the roads that leads to the Dragon from Fontana. It was truly amazing as we played cat and mouse and i watched him lift his right front tire a few times entering corners. Windows and sunroof open, sun going down, beautiful mountain air and the smell and sounds of a classic Mini blasting down a mountain road....... Heaven anyone?
This picture was afterwards on another street as a truck got in our way... ARGH.
Then a shot of what seems to be a normal thing for this weekend as i drove back into Robinsville for Dinner.
Cya tomorrow, gotta wash road grime off the MINI at 6am!
I guess I am now not only MKO (MINI Koopers Offline), but MKO (MINI Koopers ONLINE)! YAY!!!! For the heck of it, I decided to see if I could get online....and here I am!
I'll get some pix uploaded in the next day. All I can say is that all the hype is not hype. It is an AWESOME meet!
Gotta get some shut-eye to get ready for tomorrow's fun. It's raining now, but should be nice tomorrow.
This picture was afterwards on another street as a truck got in our way... ARGH.
You want to know annoying? I took a little spin yesterday morning and got stuck behind a stupid Corvette. He wouldn't get out of the way either. He actually stopped in the lane and waved me at me to pass on a blind curve (yeah, that's going to happen). Later on further down the road he STOPPED for a &$^@*!($*!#*-ING SQUIRREL. I'm sorry if some of you people out there actually like the tree rats, but as far as I'm concerned it would have been a sacrifice to the road gods.
Oh yeah I was running video at the time, too bad I can't record smells, because he cooked his brakes (we were doing 30 and he was braking for every turn.
Anyway, back to the grind of driving this boring road.
Locally saved for use as wallpaper... Thanks
Have fun and be safe...you know how those Mini people are!
Can you imagine if the world was really like "Mini St."? Awesome.

A few scenic shots from Wednesday. We drove the Cherohala Skyway which connects the Cherokee National Forest to the Nantahala National Forest. It was a lovely drive with broad sweepers and scenic vistas. We also went for a hike in the Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest (has some of the oldest untouched stands of trees in the Eastern U.S.).
A view from the Cherohala Skyway:
Here is a view of a small section of the Cherohala Skyway (taken from another part of the skyway). Notice the twisty part toward the bottom of the photo. Much of the drive was like that:
At Bald River Falls (a few miles off the Cherohala Skyway):
The worlds ultimate procrastinator is posting for the first time.
Took delivery of my first Mini in late February. Daughter and I are coming to MOTD (250 miles each way) in the morning and returning tomorrow night because, by the time we realized how fun it would be, there were no rooms available within 50 miles of the event. Since she is 17, and has only driven the car once, it can be assumed she is only going to spend that much time with Dad because I promised she could share in the driving. Anyhow, is it worth it to come for the day. We should be there from about 10:00am thru 5:00pm. What we are most interested in is:
1. Meeting other Mini owners.
2. Driving the Dragon (yes I know it will be there during these hours.)
3. Any sort of clinic/demonstration on detailing.
4. Other interesting events.
This is a great website, full of usefull information, so any recomendations are appreciated.
Just got in from a late night run on the dragon and i'm exhuasted. No time to look through pics and right up a summary. Maybe tomorrow morning if i have time.....
My sources tell me that there have already been two incidents... One MINI vs bear...
The other much worse was MINI driving at excessive speed late at night and included hitting some trees and a plunge off the road... Driver is supposed to be ok but did earn a trip to the hospital for their trouble...
We appreciate the pics since we are unable to attend. Looks like a good time!

I went to the dam early this morning to catch the morning air and nice scenery. I captured a nice little fog bank coming up and over the dam within a 2 minute period of time.
I hope all those that I gave directions to the base of the dam made to the parade in time. I was the one wearing the Hawaiian looking shirt.
