Husbands, that is!!! Very funny story (at least to my husband and me) from last night.
As previously stated, my husband went up to the Dragon yesterday to get in some fishing and canoeing during the week. He is meeting a friend up there to fish with. After a number of mishaps yesterday, my husband finally headed out late yesterday. In the meantime, I go out to dinner last night with the kids and some friends. When I get home at 9:30 I'm surprised to see he hasn't called yet to say he's there, but no big deal.
Anyway, at 10:20 his friend calls and trying not to panic me says that Mike STILL hasn't arrived. I'm not too worried because I know if there was a problem I would have heard from someone. I tell Jules (the friend) to give it another half hour, then we'll panic.
Just at the half hour the phone rings and it's my husband, finally there, albeit a bit out of sorts! He tells me he'd been lost in the dark, and there are no road signs anywhere to tell him where he is, etc. But, as he's driving around slowly he hears a voice from upon high, yelling "Hey!!! Aren't you Annette's husband?" Of course he's suspicious but says he is. It turns out it's MINIClo and I think sndwave, and I'm not sure who else!!!! They recognize the SmokeWolf from the BBQ Swap thread!!! They tell him how to find our cabin (sort of, still kind of confusing but he found it) and all is well. The funniest part about this is that my husband and I have a running joke about the fact that he can't go anywhere without meeting someone who knows me, so he was really irked (in a funny way) that even in the dark in the middle of nowhere it happened again. I did tell him that technically they didn't know me so much as they knew his smoker, but that didn't stop him from giving me grief about it!!!
Anyway, thanks MINIClo, sndwave and whomever else was there I truly appreciate it!!! Reward forthcoming!!
Annette
