By any chance did ANYONE get any details (especially name and/or email address) of the guy who was following people (both MINIs and Sport Bikers) around on the Dragon with his S2000 + hood-mounted cam-corder?
After the rally, he decided to follow me from Tabcat Bridge back up the Dragon... and we were able to enjoy at least 4 or 5 miles of it without any obstruction... full-tilt JCW goodness (incl. JCW suspension & brakes)... can you say "I WANT THAT FOOTAGE!"? And before any of you decry my run... at no time did I cross the yellow lines. Period. I'm super-strict about that. The white line, on the other hand...
Anyway, I'm also going to try to poke around any S2000 boards I can find, but I just wanted to ask if anyone has any information (even just details from casual conversation with the guy - he was very friendly) that might help me track him down.
He even joined a bunch of us for lunch at Deal's Gap after that run... and I'm KICKING myself for not getting his details right then and there!
P.S. Non-yellow-line-crossing confirmed by the S2000 gentleman himself.
P.P.S. Bragging rights... he claimed it was the most difficult time he'd ever had keeping up with a MINI on the Dragon.
Try the www.s2ki.com boards. I mentioned it to him & he said he didn't read or post often, but someone might know him.
He's from Illinois - Bloomington. I might have a picture of his car - with license plate viewable. I'll check. I don't recall him having custom plates though.
He said he was up there with some motorcycle buddies though he didn't bring his motorcycle.
I am personal friends with Dave who stayed at our house we were renting. He is working on getting some video he took for me from my inside my MINI on Sat, so there will be a lot of MINI video there, and we currently have copies of the video of some of our motorcycle runs. We were down there all week with the MINI and our motorcycles. We regularly hang out down there. I will forward this link onto him so that he can contact you.
Is this "Dave" the same guy I'm talking about, with the S2000?
UPDATE: Nevermind, I saw your response in the killboy thread. You have no idea how HAPPY I am to have your help contacting him! I have posted on THREE separate S2000 boards trying to find him:
Please tell him I'm willing to PAY for good quality digitized and/or DVD footage of what he managed to shoot of my run! At least until we catch up with the Volvo, Janelle and Marina's MINIs... after that it was a slow pace heh.

What a relief... he told me that the video came out very good, so I can't wait to get a copy! Assuming he doesn't mind me digitizing it and making it public (it is HIS work after all), I'll be posting it for everyone to see as soon as I can. :smile:
I've thought about that... and as long as I didn't cross any of the yellow lines, I don't believe it can be used as evidence because there's no easy way to tell exactly how fast I was going.
At this point, it's quite possible I'll have to take the bus to work for a while soon anyway (simply based upon the # of speeding tickets I have now)!
I got the word you wanted the video from appey girl. I sent you a PM with the details. The film is very entertaining. It was a great run from tabcat to the overlook. My poor s2k is still out of breath. Great driving on your part. I enjoyed meeting all of the mini drivers. Maybe I will be driving the right car next year.
