great shots. I should have taken more pics, I got so distracted talking to everyone, i totally forgot I had a camera with me, sheesh.
Anyway, here is a small report of today's happenings from my perspective.
Started at Detailers Paradise, Heather and Richard (Octaneguy) were there, they fed us up with bagles and pastries, juice and coffee. We then busted over to Webb Motorsports for a quicky tour, but Randy was busy at the fab shop finishing his air box thingies. We all got together and came up with a plan, and headed out. Some made a wrong turn at S. Turkey Creek Road and headed into Tiny Town, but they figured that out pretty quick, and caught up to us where we were waiting on the side of N. Turkey Creek Road. Then we motored into Evergreen where I told everyone to make a right, but I was wrong, we should have made a left.....oh well, my bad. We whipped a u-ey, and got back on track were we found route 103 and Don waiting for us at the "mouth" to the western dragon. Outside of a few SUVs, the road was clear, and we really motored through the ride, stopped for pics by Echo Lake, then went into Idaho Springs for some fluids and potty breaks. Caffeine can be a ***** when you are driving the twisties . From there, we headed up I-70 to Loveland pass, about 15 or so miles of highway driving, then we headed up Loveland Pass, but got stuck behind a semi truck that would not pull over. That was OK, it was a pretty drive anyway, but no quick twisties for us. We got past the truck near A-Basin Ski Area, and motored over to Breck via Swan Mountain Road on the back side of Dillon Res. We had a yummy lunch at Breckenridge Brewery, and as we were leaving, another group had just sat down. I did not see them, but some of our group did. We cruised route 9 to Frisco and then got on the highway to Copper where everyone either checked in or washed their car, or got their room. I checked out the vendors, saw some old friends including Mark F., our founder of this site. It was good to see him and catch up with what was going on in his life. Some some great MINIs, some classics, and watched some of the vendors doing installs. After some time hanging out and some time at the Brew Swap, the group headed into Frisco for dinner. I think we lost some on the way, not as many showed up as I had signed up...but we still had a great time. As we finished eating, we were outside and saw our very own Jonathan motoring by with a HUGE line of MINIs behind him on the way for an evening drive up the continental divide. That is were I motored back to Parker, as I have to go to work.
All in all, great fun, 16 MINIs for the morning drive to the mountains, and a huge number of folks for dinner.
Can't wait for next year, and to see more pics from this year. I fully plan on organizing "Thursday unoffical events" for next year, .
Not to hijack kendall's thread, but I uploaded todays pictures of the unofficial event organized by 03indigo and my MITM Day One photos.
Go HERE. Also posted pictures from Friday and Saturday Day 2 and Day 3, plus pictures my wife took, so go to the view all my public albums after you look at Day 1 to view the other 3 albums.
A couple playful pictures may make your eyebrows raise, so put your hands over your kids eyes when you get to the CR MINI at dinner in Frisco.
Disclaimer, not my MINI, not my GF.
