Hey all I see MANY PPL from the valley of Hell....I mean PHX the Valley of the sun I am planning on leaving late Am or so Wed and going thru 4 corners, staying in Cortez or Montrose...then the last few hours on Thurs Am to get up to Copper....any one interested in a caravan...
New member and will be my first time up to Copper with the Mini....didnt hear in time to go last year.
Is my email accessible for your direct texting?? or I'll try to find this thread again....THX
There's a caravan planned to leave Phoenix Wednesday morning, going through Cortez (by the Visitor's Center to get the "free Colorado t-shirt thingy"... and staying Wednesday night in Pagosa Springs.... on to Copper Mountain Thursday am.
Check out the Dynamic Mini Collective Forums - posted under "club events"..
THX all for the notes...
I am registered for the dinners..
I WILL be going to the 4 corners stop....
Wanting the more scenic route rather then Pagosa on way up, will be doing Telluride for Bfast (if staying in Cortez) then Montrose/Gunnison east and up...use the fast route for Sunday PM when its back to the UPS delivery man for me all to "bright and early" Monday (
ON the way to Copper from Telluride, you may wish to route yourselves thru / by the Black Canyon of the Gunnison. Possibly the most beautiful river route in the State.
THX ! JPS
Is the canyon vista viewing require going back up on 92 from 50?? looks like just a 30-45 min sidetrip?
I have spent a few years driving SW/central Colo roads when working out of ABQ so much I have seen but dont know the names. I know I could spend a week just on the stuff I know...
Hoping to see the emailed info from MITM in next few days to set up the daily rides I want......:0
Take Hwy 347 (off Hwy 50, E of Montrose) then head north down the rim road to the visitor center, about 7 miles. It is not a loop, you will go approximately in and back. But you can get the full view, from the bottom and top, and not go far out of the way at all.
Also home to the Peregrine Falcon, the fastest bird in the world. 200 mph. Faster than a MINI.

The plan right now for the main Weds group from the Dynamic Mini Collective is to leave at 8:45AM on Weds morning from the NW Valley and make our way to Pagosa Springs for a nice dinner and stay. We had a gorgeous drive in on Thursday morning last year, and looking forward to the same this year. Sounds like we'll have a good sized group!
There are certainly numerous routes to take, and we are still hammering out the details, and for sure want to get all the input on the route. Anyone coming from the valley is certainly welcome to make the drive up with us! Most of us already have reservations in place for Pagosa though, so that part probably won't change for the bulk of us going up on Weds. We're taking a different route up from last year from Pagosa, planning to go through Fairplay and Breck. Last year we went through Buena Vista and Leadville. But honestly, there really isn't a bad route to take, its all beautiful!
