A wonderful, meandering drive, if you have never met Steamboat, now is the time. You will enjoy Green Mountain Reservoir, the hunting / fishing town of Kremmling, and Muddy Pass. Then Rabbit Ears pass and the Continental Divide (twice!) before you drop down into Steamboat and discover the Yampa River.
Stay for lunch down by the river then head back thru Yampa and Vail. For fun, jump on Hwy 6 rather than I-70 and enjoy some Beaver Creek and Minturn, before you jump back on I-70 and head to Copper.
A favorite ride of mine. Beautiful scenery and nothing over 10,000 ft other than Vail Pass, just above Copper and less than 10 miles from home.
231 miles and 4 hours, plus the mandatory lunch stop and pictures.
