From what I know (which ain't much), it is hard. To repair, if it hasn't damaged the paint too much, you're going to need to buff down a little to minimize the appearance of it (depending on how bad it is will depend on the success.

Best is prevention, keep a good LSP on it and take of the buggies as soon as possible. IME, a little marring from a QD and MF is better than etched clear.
