Although your clear bra installer will prep the surface as necessary for the ClearShield, it can be helpful to clay and paint cleanse the surface before the install. However, it isn't considered necessary on paint is good condition. For paint that isn't in good condition then most people prefer to polish their paint beforehand so as to not seal in the imperfections. Obviously you want the paint underneath the clear bra to look great before you limit your access to it.

You definitely do not want to apply any kind of wax before applying a clear bra. This includes polymer/synthetic waxes like Four Star's Ultimate Paint Protection. The paint should be in good condition but completely bare... just paint.

I do strongly recommend that you apply something like Four Star's UPP (or any other good wax or protectant) AFTER the clear bra has been installed. Just check with your particular installer to see how long you should wait before doing so.
