Yep - MINI probably didn't put a whole lot of effort into "debouncing" the toggle switches, since the car's computer is likely programmed to ignore consecutive switch pulses that come within microseconds of each other (and that's if the computer is even able to detect the multiple fast pulses in the first place.)
But since your circuit intercepts the signals before they get to the computer, it gets to see all of the switch noise. I'm surprised you haven't had more problems than you have.
