Okay, so seriously...
It's pretty hard to do damage with a PC. I mean yeah you can do things to cause more swirls, but alllmost anything you can do (save for something just CRAZY) can be undone with a little more skill and practice.
As far as the little brown spots...I would try clay one more time, using more passes. I have PW as well and those little spots on the boot are evil, but clay always takes them off...it just takes a little more time than claying the rest of the car.
But a PC is invaluable for polishing as well as for applying wax. DP has a few great bundles that include various pads and polishes and/or a case. Handy!
