When everyone was parked and ready for the photo to be taken, I drove around the lot and took video of all the cars present. I've been viewing the video and just for grins and giggles I counted what styles and colors were in attendance. The lighting made differentiation between black and brit racing green difficult AND teling whether a DS car's roof was DS or BlacK -- low light because of rain cloudy skies. There were also a lot of people mingling around and they block the view occassionally. ANYWAY. Here's what I came up with ...

The most popular color there was tied between Chili Red and Dark Silver -- 19 each.
The rarest color was Light Green (sorry I don't know the OEM name for the color) - 3 cars
The most popular combo (car & roof) was CR/W ... 9MCS + 4MC.
Out of the 100 cars (not counting the cabriolet) 73 were MCS and 27 were MC
22 had Rally lights
11 had roof graphics
4 had body graphics
38 had stripes on the hood or body

The actual color breakdown is as follows.
CR/W.........4MC...........9MCS
CR/BK.........1..............4
CR/CR..........................1
Chili Red = 19

DS/W.............................5
DS/DS ...........................2
DS/BK..........................12
Dark Silver = 19 (actual roof color may not be accurate because of lighting)

BK/W............2MC...........2MCS
BK/BK............................9
Black = 13

IB/W...............7MC..........4MCS
IB/IB 1
Indi Blue = 12

PS/W.............1MC
PS/BK............3................5MCS
PS/PS.............1
Pure Silver = 10

LY/BK.............1MC ...........4MCS
LY/LY ..............................3
Liquid yellow = 8

EB/W...............................5MCS
EB/EB..............................2
Electric Blue = 7

BRG/W..............3MC........2MCS
BRG/BRG...........1
British Racing Green = 6

PW/BK.............1MC........3MCS
Pepper White = 4

LG/W...............2MC
LG/BK..............1
Light Green = 3

I left the dam photo-op early to video the cars leaving and the count was 110 Minis. So a few people must have arrived while I was taping. I bet they saw the crowd and turned around, because I did not tape anyone actually pulling out.

I was going to count wheels - stock vs custom, but there were some cars on which I couldn't see the wheels. I taped the Chili Cook-off parking lot while everyone was eating. There were 98 cars there - different ones from the photo crowd, too. Maybe I'll go back and look at the wheel in that one.

I only captured 3 original minis at the cook-off. I don't know if there were more.

Wish I kudda counted engine mods! .... I had fun. Hope this keeps the fun alive.

Silk Green

In my opinion, one of the prettiest colors. I'm so upset they discontinued it.

So, this would be considered MINIs, dam MINIs and statistics?

AGOKART also has an EB/B MCS

I heard on the radios a count of about 118, so I'm sure some of the color combo's are missing. Very interesting complilation in any case! They very closely resemble the Can't Wait For _____ Club's typical demographic. (with CR and DS being most popular, followed by IB)

Very interesting stats, thanks for sharing. One question though, out of all qoo Mini's there were no JCW Mini's?

To answer your questions ....
SprogII ... I believe your car was the only major custom paint job. Since there weren't enough custom paint jobs for such a catagory, I had to list you as IB/W. I saw that the mirrors were white, and am guessing that IB/IB has black mirrors. But that's a guess. The only other car with full graphics was Mean Mr. Bean and am fairly certain that they were vinyls. Either way -- you were in a catagory by yourself.

It wa hard to see the roofs so they could be off a little. I have one BRG/BRG listed, though the roof could be black. I saw a BRG/BRG at the cook-off but it had white pin-stripes down from the top and across the sides to the front. The BRG at the dam didn't seem to have those stripes. There also seem to be a lot more BRGs at the cook-off than at the dam. I saw an EB/B somewhere. I was surprised I didn't have on in the stats. When I send in the video you can all pick out your cars and tell me how far off I am.

Like I said, I counted 110 LEAVE the parking area (including cabro). There could have been some that didn't leave with the crowd OR some that left before I did. I can only count what I THINK I see.

And finally ... if you can tell me how to tell a JCW from the front, I'll gladly pull them out. I did see 2 at the cook-off with the script decal on the back identiying it as JCW. Maybe I'll go over the cook-off cars (98 of them). But still need to know how to tell a JCW from the exterior other than the script on the back end.

I'm trying to get my video into my computer to edit. I bought the camera the day I left for the event. It writes directly to DVD and has a USB connector, but discovered that it was NOT mac compatable yesterday. So I installed it on the PC and USB still didn't work. It seems to only allow USB-RECORDING not USB transfer (and the PC doesn't have a DVD drive). Isn't it lovely how ALL manufacturers don't really tell you the truth, but just enough to get you interested? ... I ordered editing software today and will have video to send to Mark next week.

As far as I know, the "works" marking on the back or the exhaust tips are the only 2 ways to tell if it's a JCW or not......unless there's something added by the owner on the front.

Thats it. Other then the deeper right foot imprints on the ground by the drivers door..

That's alot of MINIs! Neat statistics.
If there is an official event sign up with a sheet with the owners name, email, car description and unique features then that can be put into a scrap book with a photo on DVD or online. That could be a reference for who was there or help with generating event participation certificates complete with group photo and individual photo and even suitable for framing.

Interesting about the number of MCS and MC and about the colors, some being more common with MC than MCS like my Indiblue.

Some colors and combinations being rare at least with those who attended. In Hawaii we have silk green and velvet red participants and they are fairly popular colors albeit no longer available.

You did very well. The BRG/BRG at the Dam was at the cook-off...but had no pinstripes. I know this because that was *MY* BRG/BRG MC.

Congrats...and GREAT stats!!

Hugs,

yeah you missed at lest two EB/B combo's as both me and NoBull60 were both there. maybe another list could be how many aero kits....i know i had one...or how may painted arches. i saw two, myself, and a black MCS. that is a "rare option".. good job though.

Mine was indeed IB/IB. Used to have black mirrors, now they're chrome. I have a pic of the car when I first picked it up - I switched out the grille & boot trim as soon as I got back with it, heh. If I can find the pic I'll post it. I should start a before/after thread.
