Hello from Los Angeles!

I just ordered an 07 MCS from South Bay MINI. It feels good to start the process but I'm still not confident in my options or color choices. I ordered:

MCS
Dark Silver/Black
6 speed
Sport Package - Crown spokes/no bonnet stripes
Rear fog lamp
SatNav
Automatic A/C
Multifunction Steering Wheel
Anthracite headliner
Leatherette: black/grey
Interior surfaces: checkered

This car is going to be a daily driver so I'm not going to go overboard on the performance side. I listened to both the standard sound system and the Hi-Fi version and the Hi-Fi one didn't really sound any better to me. I haven't received an official production date yet.

Amanda at South Bay MINI was very patient and helpful. All I need to do now is confirm my options and wait

Nice choices! Congrats on placing your order.

Let the waiting begin....good luck passing the time. There's much here on NAM to keep you entertained while you wait.

my vote also goes for the bonnet stripes. peel 'em off if you don't like 'em, but mini's look great w/ stripes

congrats and hope you get your car soon!

Thanks for the welcome. It's nice to have a forum like this to get other's opinions/advice on the options. One of the options my MA got me to seriously consider was the bluetooth but it seems overpriced. Has anyone got the iPod adapter?

minimarks,
I opted to leave out the limited slip differential since I won't be driving the car competitively. At least that's what I think

gokartride,
I got the checkered standard surface, not the checkerboard one from the accessories section. I don't know if that was clear in description.

re: bonnet stripes...
I don't know... I'll give that some more consideration.

Richard Korby,
I'm living near Pico & Fairfax but I work downtown. If fact, my office is just around the corner from bridge Hammer drives across near the beginning of the first Hammer & Coop episode.

Welcome Rover! I too wish I ordered the Bonnet stripes. You can always take them off. Amanda is awesome. Did she tell you about SCMM?
I too grew up in West LA right next to Richard Koorby

Welcome! There's lots of MINI Motoring activity in our area!

You might want to reconsider getting the Limited-Slip Diff; On the 2005's & 2006's, the LSD was a $500 option. If the 2007 price is anywhere in that ballpark, I would strongly recommend getting it. HAving one installed after the fact, involves thousands of dollars, and although some folks don't like the feeling (similar to torque-steer) that can occur when it activates, it can really help get power to the ground!

Welcome to NAM!! I have the OEM Black bonnet stripes on my car but they have taken a beating from bugs and stone chips. They are black over white and when you get a nick it really stands out. I may go for an aftermarket set. With a little heat they will lift right off....or so every one says.

According to my MA, my cut off date for making changes is tomorrow. I saw this S today in a parking lot with the body color roof and I think I'm going to change to that. I really like this color more than Dark Silver but I guess it's been dropped. It's got a little brown or green in it.

That is a R53 either 2005 or 2006, thats a Royal Grey / Royal Grey (RG/RG) combination on a MCS.

I want to get a Dark Sliver with body colored top and mirrors but also want the black bonnet stripes. I've seen photos of one (in sparkling silver) but the configurator doesn't let you do this. Does the dealer put the stripes on in this case?

I just went ahead and upgraded the sound system to the Hi-Fi option. Even though it didn't sound so good when I tried it out, I see that a lot people are satisfied after the speakers have a little time to break in.

Still waiting for a production number.

I am surprised that you didn't get the automatic....I have it and love it. As you know how traffic can be here in town.

The day I was at the dealer to test drive, they only had automatic Coopers and manual Cooper S models available. I'd thought about the automatic as a possibility but in the end I couldn't do it. I've never owned an automatic car and I just felt strange driving the auto Cooper. I may regret it when I'm stuck in traffic but hopefully there will other driving situations that will make up for it.

I love the color on the Mini. Congrats on your new baby, happy motoring!

I received a production number today! About how long before a MINI is produced does it get "scheduled for production"? I was hoping to make week 20 production but the status of my car is still "on order".

You will find the mini site is a bit slow. Take your Vin. when you get it and google it. We were able to track ours by the shipping line. Much more fun to see where it is more often.
