Hello from Bellevue NE

I have been peeking in a few times and finally decided to say Hi. I put my Mini Cooper on order a few weeks ago but not expecting to get it in until around the end of June. Getting one of the Nightfire Reds with black top. Finally decided to make the plunge since my regular ride is a 2002 Ford Ranger but the gas mileage in it is killing me. I try to ride my motorcycle (2006 Yamaha Stratoliner) all year round just to keep my gas expense down but that gets difficult in our winter months. Now with the Mini, I think it's MPG is going to pretty much match my bike.

It's going to be a big change for me in going from a truck to a car and I've been reading a lot on the threads on trailers and trailer hitches. Does anyone really haul good size motorcycles with thier Mini's? (My bikes weight is about 800lbs) I'm figuring a hitch will go on either my mini or my wifes Civic just so I have that occasional capability of bringing home light project material for around the house that will not fit inside of the car and if I ever what to haul the bike someplace.

Anyway, hopefully in a few months I will be out and about with my Mini to start meeting others. Then I'll start checking up on some of the meets.

Mike...

Welcome to NAM.
I would sacrifice the Civic for the trailer. But, that's just me.

Already have my C.O.R.N. shirt. Hoping to hear about the next meeting (or at least once I get my MINI.) Just checked it's status and it's awaiting transport now.

Welcome to NAM! I like the idea of the Mini trailer by the way.

Mini on Hand...

Well I did pick up my Mini back on May 29th. Still need to get a decent picture of it to post.

But I have a question. It's a 2007 Mini Cooper Nightfire Red with black roof and mirrors. (Its not an S model). I had been running on the initial tank of gas the dealer put in and was getting very puzzled by the distance I was putting in. I got a total of 431 miles until it finally got down to the last light on the fuel gauge. I kept thinking that it's getting over 40 miles per gallon. But when I filled it up, I put in 13.36 gallons into what was supposed to be a 10.6 gallon tank. Not that I'm complaining but did I somehow get an S model gas tank in my Mini or is this common on a 10.6 gallon tank.

Hope to get some pictures posted soon.
