how long to wait until i know how long?

Hi all--

i ordered my MINI last monday. In my resulting fevered, semi-hallucinatory state i didn't quite take note of what my dealer said about securing a spot in their build allocation & notifying me on my build date. i THINK he said he wouldn't know until about 2 weeks, and when he did he could then project delivery date. does that sound right?

i've left an email but not heard back & don't want to pester...but as you all know this wait is painful, especially when i can't even count those days. of course i'll probably get on the phone to him as soon as i send this...but they're not open yet!

it's east bay MINI (SF bay area) btw--and he said there was a chance i could get in the may build; if not, june. does that sound feasible? i'm hearing such scare stories.

thanks for any help or reassurance--

cheers,
diana

Do you mean East Bay MINI in Pleasanton? They are the only dealer in the Bay Area that doesn't charge dealer markup, and when I was starting to look at MINI a year ago, their waiting list was something like 10 months! Other Bay Area dealers had $1500-$2500 markup with 1 to 3 month wait before build. The situation must have changed drastically if you can get in so soon.

i am a "new orderer" too, order last week-end 4/15. i was told that i would be week 19 production which i think is the first may production.

i ordered from brecht as they recently began participation in the costco member auto buying program and i was able to get for slightly less than msrp. i couldn't find anyone else in ca that would even get down to msrp, although i had heard that eastbay would as would a long beach dealer, but their waiting lists were pretty long....

good luck and keep us posted on what you hear as the production date(s) roll out....i'll do the same!

thanks for info, both of you.

rkw--yes, east bay MINI in pleasanton. since i don't have my build date yet i don't really know if things have changed--going to call momentarily.

beaglemini--lucky you in may production (not to mention below msrp)! did your dealer tell you right away what your date was, or did it take him/her a few days to get that info?

i did pick pleasanton for the msrp price, and it's only 45 minutes or so from me so pretty hard to justify shipping charges or flights out just to speed things up.

hello -

we were told over the phone that we would be either week 18 or 19...when we went to the dealer to order, we were told that week 18 had "locked up" which i understood to mean the options couldn't be changed on the vehicles that the dealer had allocated in that production run or something to that effect, so it was week 19. i am still a bit iffy on what week 19 means exactly relative to date, so until i start getting some feedback from the owner's circle site tracking thing, i am guessing...

we even looked at out-of-state dealers who would go below msrp, but after adding shipping it didn't work out numbers-wise.

brecht is near san diego so it wasn't too far for us...

good luck!

I ordered mine 4/1 and was supposed to be built Week 17, but was born early on 4/20 and 2 out of 3 sources say it is already on the ship enroute. At this rate, from day of order to delivery will be 6 weeks,,,

We ordered our MCS on April 5th, production number on the 6th, born on the 19th, and on the ship right now. We are also expecting delivery in 5 to 6 weeks total based on the schedule so far. I really feel for the people on the west coast that are waiting for months to see their cars.
