BMW Logo on Mini Convertible

I saw a mini convertible S on the road yesterday that had a BMW logo on the boot where the mini logo should be. Is this a case of someone wanting to announce they have a "BMW" or is this a new addition? I searched archives but can't tell if this is a new phenom.

Thanks all

I remember awhile back someone posted they did this to their boot.

I also remember it caused a big MINI vs BMW hoopla!

I think he ordered it from Japan or something....not a new addition.

that's definately someone freelancing - BMW likes to keep the two brands completely seperate and distinct from each other.

what I'd like to see is someone rebadge their BMW with the MINI logo!

A exotic car dealer had a MINI like 5 months before they released them officially. I don't know how he got it but it was on display at his shop. We went to go check it out and it had the MINI Wings logo but with BMW in the center. I got really mad because of that because I thought BMW was putting its logo on it.

I've seen a few pics of MINI's here & there with the BMW Roundel on them...owners usually get flamed a bit for it. Think I've seen one go as far as putting an ///M badge on there.... To each his own I suppose, but rebadging is a bit silly on any car...the MINI is great in it's own right....

I could not agree more!

Having owned several BMW's, I elected to buy a MINI this time around. Could have had a BMW, chose a MINI. I still like BMW's. I do still own one. But, I don't feel a need to justify the MINI by emphasizing the BMW relationship.

I love my MINI for what it is, not for which auto company designed or built it. I have a lot of respect for BMW from a design & engineering standpoint. BMW's are very rewarding to drive. I'm thrilled that BMW has given MINI the freedom to keep the fun in the car. If BMW's are the Ultimate Driving Machine, MINI's are the Ultimate Fun Machine.

If some of you want to put Roundels on your MINI's, fine by me. But, I'll be wearing wings.

Someone told me that the first run of the new MINIs initially had the BMW logo on it... Any truth to this?

And he said just the BMW logo, not the winged one mentioned before.

Kinda like putting a Lexus badge on a Camry

Not that I think my MINI is inferior to a BMW. - I love it just the way it is!

I think they should start putting MINI emblems on BMWs. I think we have the true "driving machines".
