Hello all! I'm currently learning to drive (I'm 20 but I just never trusted my parents teaching me.. Yikes, I could drive better than them and I only have like 20 hours of actual road time)

But hoping my first car will be a MINI.

Anyone know which MINI dealership would be the best to go to from East Texas? I'm pretty much at equal distance between Dallas and Houston so either way I'm gonna have to drive 100+ miles.

Apparently, late July and early August has been ripe for MINI recruitment!

Welcome to all the new NAMmers! I haven't been here too long myself, but I've learned a ton and found everyone to be very helpful! So welcome aboard, grab a cuppa, and wander through the vast collection of MINI info!

Wanted to extent a hello as I'm new to the forum. I had been lurking for a while gathering information on my new purchase, a 02' Cooper (black on black). Love the little car! I had always wanted one even before the new body style came out. I still want an original Mini at some point. So far the only thing done to my car is a set of 18" Konig wheels. Wanting to add a exhaust and maybe a intake. From what I'm reading the stock air box with a drop in filter does almost as good a job as most of the HAI's on the market.

Ahoy ahoy, long time lurker, recent owner. We just got a lovely British Racing Green Mini Cooper, cut down a bit on the luxuries, but of course still a great deal of fun.

We haven't named it yet (I think it's a girl, she's not so sure,) and we're not being too gentle about breaking it in, but it's been a blast, and we're just about halfway to the first service already.

Hello All -

After an agonizing 2 month MTF, finally got home a '08 LiB/DSC/Stripes MCS on 08/08/08 (the date was just a coincidence ). The wait was worth every nano second. Looking forward to happy days of blissful motoring.

Been a lurker on the site since before I ordered the car. Any suggestions on a good place to start off for the basic accessories?

I know what your saying.. I have always been afraid of my Moms' driving and to this day her driving still scares the you know what out of me.
Her claim is that she has never been in a accident but lord only knows how many pile ups she has left in her wake that she is not even aware of.

As for this question I would post it in the following forums:Between those two you should be able to get a better answer.

Oh and before I forget... I would like to welcome you and daericks, hmikki, SparklingPhil, navicaph, jdboy, RaptorCK and flymom150.

Happy Motoring! and I hope to see all of you at the Dragon

Hello Everyone,

After being a longtime MINI fan (and a lurker of these parts for almost as long), I finally saved up enough to place an order on a 2009 PW/B MINI Cooper. I'm definitely excited to be part of such a knowledgeable and friendly community and I'm hoping that talking to you guys will make the wait go by that much faster.

In the meantime, I'll be rocking my Focus...

Welcome! Well, technically, you don't register the name...but there ARE threads where you can share your MINI's name...AND vanity plate.... Welcome to the MINIverse, and don't forget to wave at other MINIs - whether you're in a MINI or in your "MINI support vehicle!"

Ok great thanks. I remember reading somewhere weeks ago, that after getting a vin # you could register the name, and it will appear on any work orders, and would be referred to by name from the dealer. ? Did I dream this?
I want to decide on the name soon!

Another newbie here - GREETINGS!

I ordered my '09 MCCS BRG on 8/8/08 and have been waiting for a production number. I am getting aperplexy from anticipation!
This site is the best for MINI owners ( past, present & future)!
I am "totally stoked" - to put it in West Coast venacular ; my brother-in-law rebuilds the original Minis in Costa Mesa. I'll blame him for my affliction!
This is going to be a whole new experience!
Oh one question: Is there life OUTSIDE the MINI?

Great color choice!! Um...why do we care if there's life outside the MINI? It's too much fun in THIS world.

Hi Guys!

I'm another newbie, although I've been lurking here for quite some time. Time to finally get the toes wet. Anyway, it was last November that I bought my first (ever) car. It's an 03 MC, VR/W. 100k+ miles, but for a starving college student, I wasn't about to do much better. Absolutely love that car though.

More importantly, I was craigslisting a couple months back and found MiniLu. Also an '03 MC, LY/B, in need of a new transmission, and cheap. The sellers had recently bought another car (a volvo ) and didn't want to spend the money to get it fixed. I'd gotten a (relatively) high-paying summer job. I had the money. And I've always wanted to take apart a mini, so I bought her. I'm trying to take out the transmission without removing the engine, but I'm kinda stuck, so my next post will be in the repairs forum.

So that's my story. I'm Looking forward to hangin' around here getting to know you guys.

Hi ...
I'm preparing to welcome my new MINI to the family. Here are the "vital statistics":

Oxygen Blue / Black
6-Speed Automatic
Cold Weather Package
Premium Package
Punch Carbon Black Leather Seats
Front / Rear Fog Lamps
Mudflaps
Upper / Lower Invisishield

I ordered through my local dealer on July 30. So now I'm pretty much in wait mode.

I've been keeping myself occupied by checking the car's status in the Owner's Lounge (at least twice a day), calling for a status on 1-866-ASK-MINI (daily), and playing "Count the Mini's" while I've been out and around (yesterday was a great day -- i saw Six of 'em!).

I finally received the info I have been looking for on registering our mini's name so that it will appear on all work orders.

I will copy the email I received from "Darlene" at Mini that tells step by step how to to this, for others who may want to register their Mini's name.

"In order to have your Mini's nickname show up when you go in for service, you need to have it entered in the "Owners Network" in the "Owners Lounge."
To add you Mini's name to your account, simply click on Owner's Network" when you are on your "Owners Lounge" account home page.
Once there, you can go to the "My Content" link to create a profile.
You'll just need to fill out your information, including your Mini's nickname. If you already have a profile, you'll need to add your Mini's nickname to your profile using the "Preferences" link."

We are expecting our new "Mini Son" to arrive in port this Thursday. His name is Casper. He is Pepper White w/ Black roof.

Greetings

Hi all,

I just started the waiting game with an 09 LB/B MCS and a number of extras like the premium package and Aero Kit.

The dealer says 7-8 weeks. Not bad I guess to get the car the way I wanted it.

Thanks to all of you that have posted valuable information to help those of us that are new to the Mini Cooper family.

Greg

I just found out that our Mini will be in the week 37 production run.
