At 80k, you may have some maintenance items to take care of prior to upgrading. Crank sensor o-ring, belt, belt tensioner, power steering hoses, water pump, t-stat and harmonic crank pulley are just a few. Should also check your shock towers for mushrooming.
A Mini S is great car, but it does need to be maintained.
^Coop,
I live in Fuquay Varina. Do you live here also? According to my carfax and the good people at Flow, this car is well-maintained. It goes in on Tuesday for a check up.
Being new to the 'Mini' cult, I am planning to make the MOTD this May.
We should meet sometime and I can see what this 15% pulley thing is about.

Oh yeah,
Not a mushroom in sight.
Hi and welcome to nam, Vmaxx.
06 is one of the best years for Mini Coopers. I Have an 05 (another good year and an 06 Mini S JCW model, which I took a long time finding.
Let the modding begin!
I live in NC as well! Grew up in Winston Salem! Just had my car at Flow Friday for a check up and all looked well except for a slight seeping oil pan! I actually was working for Flow when they got in the very first Mini and was able to drive it! Ever since then I wanted one and finally I have one!!!
I used to Auto -x, YEARS ago, I don't know if I still have my skills. I would really like to track the car. If nothing else, to go see what the racers are doing these days. The G3 guys are about to do some over-hauling to the car in time for MOTD.
