New F56 joining the family
Hey all,
Never been too good at these introduction threads, but I picked up a new '15 MCS 2DR HT a few days ago and it looks like this is the go-to forum so here I am :D. Was driving a '15 Focus ST before this and traded it in on the MCS. Crazy? Yeah, apparently I am, but unlike everyone else and all the motor journalists, the ST and I never got along that well. It was a fun car, quick, good handling, but something about it never clicked with me and I just didn't enjoy being in it, ya know? It was good fun on the back roads, but when I was in my daily driving routine I didn't like being in it at all.
Regarding the MINI, I'm not going to say that I've been a life long fan and had love for them since the originals, but I have always wanted one since the re-release here in the states after I had a chance to drive a 1st gen MCS a long time ago. Currently driving a '15 MCS that I leased off-the-lot so it doesn't have everything I would personally spec if I ordered one, but regardless, I love it.
It may not be quite as quick as the ST was, and with the all season runflats and standard suspension it isn't quite as nimble, but it's still damn close and I think just getting some 17s and better rubber will make it even closer. Regardless of that, I just enjoy being in it so much more and it brings a bigger smile to my face for reasons I really can't explain. I dunno, but the lighter weight and smaller size makes it more fun for me and, using the old cliche, "go-kart" like. My kids dig it more than the ST too, so that means something as well :D. With the ST I always felt like it was "good enough", but with my new MINI I find myself wanting to just drive it for the sake of driving it.
Anyway, it's been a long time coming and I'm happy to finally have one of my own. I've already started playing with options and spec'ing out what I want on the next one when my lease is up and I order it exactly as I want it.

Welcome to NAM! Congratulations on your purchase. Glad you finally picked one up since you've wanted one for so long. It looks like you're really enjoying it over the ST already.

Thanks all. Regarding black wheels, I'm totally on the same page. I'm actually putting aside some coin to get a set of 17s in black with summer tires for next year since I currently have 16s with all seasons. Winter is around the corner so it's fine for now, but I definitely want better for the warm seasons.
