GP1 - #1393 in its new garage

Well I have officially joined the Mini universe. After almost pulling the trigger on a 2003 R53 a couple of years ago, now is the time. You know it funny, I found some really rare "unobtanium" Mini racing parts for that car but ended up selling them (at a small profit mind you), but ultimately that car was not to be (it needed more work then I cared to do at the time).

I returned to my comfort zone - Porsches, first buying a 1986 944 Turbo that was barely street legal, then selling that and going back to a platform I know really well - the 986 Boxster.

But I got Boxster'ed out. Owning three of them, plus a 987 Cayman, I was just tired of the same old same old. Now it's time to turn my attention to Mini's.

I always loved the GP. And when a pristine completely stock example turned up the next town over, my fate was sealed. Picked up the car today and parked it in its new garage. That garage barely contained my wife's Countryman, now the garage seems to swallow up the GP...well not too much. So Happy to be a part of the Mini family.

Congrats from a fellow GP owner, really the best R53 they made.

Welcome to NAM! How do you like the way your Mini handles compared to your Porsche's?

If you all have been following the news, it has been raining alot in North Texas. Like pretty much everyday. Early this AM, we set the record for the wettest May since they have been keeping records. We need to dry out!

Anyway, since I picked up #1393 on Wednesday, it has sat in the garage. I do plan to take it to the track soon. I am an instructor with the Porsche Club of America and three other local track organizations, so I am looking forward to running the Mini through its paces. I will dutifully report back the differences after I have had more seat / track time.

It's a mini garage (wink, wink)

The garage is so small I had to cut out a small square for the licence plate surround, so my wifes Countryman would fit in the garage. With the addition of #1393, she got to move up the "big" garage. Which is not too big either. I miss our old oversized garage badly. Watch out what you wish for. When I said downsize, I did not know that applied to garages too.
