New Owner of 2005 Mini (transmission failure 68k)

I recently picked up an 2005 Mini Cooper at 67,000 miles car was in great condition inside and out. Decided this would be the car I take on my move from NY to FL. Clutch shifted smoothly and everything was going great until well it stopped moving. Got off of I-95 and stopped at a stop sign went to go put it in first car wouldn't go. Come to find out I had a leak in my transmission. Hatchback was covered in gear oil. Off to the repair shop with a car I've only owned for 2 weeks.

They want 3600 to put in a rebuilt transmission. So now I am lurking through the forums trying to find a used transmission if anyone knows of someone selling one or has any tips in finding one that would be greatly appreciated.

Is 3600 too high of a quote? Should I call more shops in the area?
