Hello everyone!

I've always loved MCs, and now that I'm in the market for my first car I thought this forum would be a great resource to learn about them and decide if a mini would be a good fit for me.

Hope you're all having a wonderful day!

Welcome aboard! Love the username.

I'm a soon-to-be Mini owner as well, and so far the board has been very helpful, and definitely is a great resource. I've learned a lot in my time here, and I'm sure you will as well!

Minis are awesome! I've had mine about 5 years now (2005 Cooper S) and its been a great car with only a few issues. Style and performance in one package. The nice thing about Minis is that when things go wrong, they fail in a very repeatable way. If you pay attention to the car and notice things early (listening, feeling, smelling, etc.) you can stay in front of most issues. A couple of searches here on the forum and chances are there are a hundred others with the same issue. I use this site a great deal even though I just registered a couple of hours ago.

Hey...these cars are a lot of fun to drive. You did not mention if you're looking to buy new or used. If you can't do your own repairs and you're buying used, then I would recommend buying a car with a warranty or one that is covered under the Mini Next Program.

If you don't mind getting your hands dirty, then you have a lot of options available to you.

Please note that these models can be problematic:
2007 – 2010 R56 S model (N14 engine)
2009 – 2010 R57 S model convertible (N14 engine)
2008 – 2010 R55 Clubman S (N14 engine)
Also - the JCW used the N14 thru 2012

Thanks, guys!

Mini_Wisconsin-
I did some lurking before I joined and have decided to steer clear of anything with an N-14 engine. I'm looking for a used justa cooper since that's more in my price range, and the models that seem to be available in my area are going to either be '07s or '09s with the N-12. There's a really adorable chili red I've kinda got my eye on lol

Hey Kaylee, great choice! If you're like your namesake I don't think these should give you much issue. Do some homework and get any choices you find checked out if used. Then go out, misbehave, and enjoy it!
