08 Clubman second owner

Just got this Clubman after my previous non-MINI was totalled. Got a rental MCS while looking for a replacement car and really enjoyed it, and started to look for a MINI vehicle. Eventually got this Clubman that was well loved by the previous owner, and other than getting rid of the pet odor in the vehicle was in amazing shape for a 08.

Named the car as my user name, Mimi La Bonq, from a British comedy series named 'Allo 'Allo.

The only advice I have for you is to get into the habit of checking the oil level once every week or two.

Enjoy your new car!

Foxontherun,

Because the 2008 Clubman S has the N14 engine. These things can burn a lot of oil. Up to one quart every 1,000 miles is normal.

Hi again Mini_Wisc:
I've messaged this forum in the past, when I recently got my Mini. You were very helpful then, so wondering if I can ask your advice: Just wondering if you can tell me if a retro-fit heat shield would have any effect on power. A local dealer added it on after I took it in for some work. No charge. However, after the work they did, my 08 clubman s does not seem as powerful when passing. They also replaced valve cover and the thermostat.

Also, what is the best way (without spending a ton of money) to increase HP in a Mini Clubman S?

Any thoughts on any of this stuff?

The oil consumption on a N14 engine can vary a lot between individual cars, mine doesn't burn a drop. but you should check the oil often, until you get used to how much oil it uses.

Some people have trouble reading the dipstick on their MINIs. I've found that if I check the oil when it is cold and parked on a level surface and pull the dipstick, note the level without wiping it off, I get a good read of the oil level.

You've gotta to wonder what MiniLaBong ulterior motive is...hmmmm. Perhaps impressing the ladies. After all, his first order was to remove the pet odor... But seriously he has a nice looking car and I wish him only the best.

Scott,
Nice to hear from you again...sorry I can't give you any good answers to your questions. I hope your car has worked out well for you.
