New guy jumping in with two (mini) feet
Hello everyone,
Just signed on and thought I'd say hello.
It's kind of a funny story.
The wife falls for a trade that was on our lot. It's a little 2011 cooper S m/t three weeks ago. I drove it for the next week to and from work having a few things done to it; tint, dents removed, mirror shells painted and swapped, etc. as I work at a Toyota dealership, I have access to such services.
Anyway, I kinda fell for the little thing. It's a blast to drive.
So, what's a guy to do? I've got the first symptoms of mini fever.
Actually, I should blame the damned internet. It's the internets fault!
I get to googling and learn of, what's this!? A JCW GP, whassat?
Umm, long story short, I flew out to Cali last Saturday evening, picked up the car Sunday morning. It's back here in AZ now in my driveway next to hers after what was definitely the best trek back home from Cali that I've ever had. What a ride! I hit every mountain twisty road I knew of between Dana Point and here. This thing is unreal.
So, I'm all signed up and ready to learn about these little guys with y'all.

Nice first MINI for yourself. That's the 2013 JCW GP2 ( newest ) , there is the original GP from 2006.
Re-posted a little bigger for you. Nice shot in the sand.
Here is the Original JCW GP , now sometimes called the GP1 .
Here is some info:

Dunes and waving
Ok, so the waving is actually a thing for mini drivers. As an avid motorcyclist for years, I'm already accustomed. Seems this car gets more attention from non mini motorists tho. Just about every time I park and get out of it, someone asks about it or says "nice car"
Yeah, that sand pic is at Osborne overlook at the imperial sand dunes (Glamis) another one of my playgrounds when the weather is cooler. I stopped off there for a picture while on my way home from Cali.

Congratulations in the GP. You are definitely jumping in at the deep end!
About the roof/prod numbers: In 2006, all GPs world wide had a unique roof number GP0001 through GP2000. For 2013, product planners decide not to number the cars. Instead, each one has "1 of 2000" on the door sills and on the dash.
GP owners were not pleased about the lack of a unique number. With all of the cars being identical, the roof number brigs some identity, and also helps with documenting the history of the individual car. So there was an effort in the US to "Save the numbers". MINI of North America (NA) responded by creating a number sequence just for US (0001 thru 0500) and Canada (01 thu 50).
Some GP2 roof numbers were applied by MINI NA before shipping the cars to dealers, and other cars were shipped without and then the roof numbers were sent later.
Each GP2 had 3 numbers printed. One to apply to the car, a spare for the dealer if there were any issues, and the third is stored at MINI NA headquarters in New Jersey.
Long story...
Many 2013 GP2 owners want to know what their "world production number" is. This is the sequence within the entire 2000 cars world wide, just as we had back in 2006. So your prod # is 0229 and I saw your post in the GP2 Registry. Do you know, what is your US roof number? If you purchased the car from a dealer, they should have provided the sticker/graphic to you.

+1 they will have another sticker on stock at dealer and then MINI has one in NJ HQ. Find the dealership where it was bought from originally and they will get you on track.
Check the glove box , some customers got the spare in the glove box I heard with the owners manuals. Possible also the original owner might have it.
Looks like you have all the other graphics on the outside.

Gotta look into that
Yeah, I'm not sure who the original selling dealer was. I need to look into that.
I do know that the original "owner" of the car is BMW-Mini USA.
I was told by the BMW dealer that sold it to me that some corporate LA region employee drove it around SoCal it's first 8k miles.
I'm missing the wrenches for the coil overs, have no owners manual or the GP supplement I've heard about, and no roof numbers at all.
Emailed mini about it. The guys overseas responded with my world production number and said they'd forward my other questions to the people at mini USA.
Not a peep from them yet. Been over a week.
On the positive side; had the windows tinted yesterday. Absolute necessity here in AZ. 3M crystalline. The stuff is pretty amazing.
Interested in intercooler upgrade next. I'm currently researching that. More mods will follow. Not gonna get to crazy though. IMO this car is pretty special and shouldn't be modded beyond recognition.

Nice dunes shot! That's the one scenic view between Phoenix and San Diego.

We are looking to do the same mod soon, our JCW Countryman has been designated as a mild build which isn't really like us but we will see. Keep an eye out as we will dyno test the product once we get it installed and perhaps that will help with your decision.
