Newbie here from NM awaiting 2011 MCS

Hello Everyone,

I am new to this site and will also be a first time MINI owner. I first want to thank everyone on this site with the extensive MINI information. Everyone on this forum seems to be very friendly and helpful, and its so nice to be able to come here and find out anything you want to know. I currently own a 2003 Nissan Sentra SE-R Spec V that I got as a graduation gift from highschool, and finally decided after finishing college and starting my career it was time for a new car! I am thrilled to be part of the MINI family, and can't wait until my car arrives. I ordered a 2011 MINI Cooper S as follows:

2011 Laser Blue Mini Cooper S

-Carbon Black Leatherette

-Premium Package:
Dual pane panoramic sunroof
Automatic climate controll
Harmon-Kardon sound system

-Sport Package
17" Black conical spoke wheels with all season run-flats
Xenon headlights with black headlight housing
Dynamic traction control
White turn signals

-Steptronic Automatic Transmission
(Yes I know the manual is a blast, but after having manual in all the
vehicles I have owned and the traffic I face, it was time for a change).

-Chrome line interior

-Roof and mirror caps in black

-Center Armrest

-Anthracite headliner

-Color line carbon black

-Interior color carbon black

-Voice command

-MINI Visual Boost

-Comfort bluetooth and USP/IPOD adapter

-Smartphone integration (current iPhone 4 user)

My car started production 8/18/2010, and as of 8/24/2010 the car is on the boat and "In Transit To Final VPC" in Port Hueneme, CA. I am so excited for my car to arrive, but it has been rough, and requires me to be very patient. Anyway, sorry for the long thread, but I just wanted to say hello to everyone, and share my story and excitement. Hope everyone is well and having a great week.

Thanks,
Michael S.

Welcome to NAM and the wonderful world of MINI!

Patience is a diffcult commodity right now, but the payoff will be worth it.

Thanks for the welcome jtbrown! Yeah I am surprised I have been this patient, because I tend to not have too much patience. I guess I am just figuring when it arrives it will be so worth it.

Welcome to the forum, I personally don't think you will regret the auto trans one bit, I have it and love it, play games with the paddles or shifter when you want to, or laze out and let the electronic brain do it when you wish.

I was only able to test drive the manual so I am unfamiliar with the automatic (paddle shifters etc). So you like the automatic? I guess just having a six speed manual currently, and having manual cars in all my driving days, makes me realize its time for a change. Especially, with the traffic I face in the mornings. Do you feel that the performance of the automatic is just as good as the manual? I heard it was a good transmission either way

I believe you are right. I just put everything that was on the dealer order sheet, so I think because I originally wanted Mini Connected, the visual boost never fell off. That would be cool if it came with it, but I think its just wishful thinking since it got pushed back. Laser Blue MCS Conv will look nice. I saw a 2010 model at the dealership and it really looks good with that color in a conv. I will definitely post pics once mine arrives. Its scheduled to arrive at the port on 9-15-2010, but I have no clue how long it takes to make it to the dealership which is two states away.

Oh, the wait is torture! Soon you will be happily motoring around, though.

Congrats! Sounds beautiful...can't wait to see some pics. The wait is killer but the minute you get behind the wheel it all sort of melts away and you forget about it. A MINI is the one thing that's better than the anticipation and there's no residual guilt...only miles of smiles...

Thanks LadyGodiva and DooBahDoo!

Michaeldavitt,
Glad to connect with another mini owner in NM. That sounds like fun, and a nice drive. I have never heard of that place in Santa Fe. Tell me about your mini. You will have to message me your number and we can plan something. Would like to check out your mini as well.
