This car has been in dry storage for over 20 years. At the moment I'm looking to find a new home for this one owner, never rolled, wrecked or (sigh) even raced car.
Just added enough pictures to give people an idea in the last two days, so do not have a firm price yet. Asked around on a U.K. forum and have been told that over there the rage is all for the unrestored classics, esp. the MK 1 Cooper S. The Brits and a guy from Denmark are saying 6500 to 8,000 pounds U.K.. One Brit has just imported a Southern Cal MK 1 Special Tuning S for $11,000 U.S., which I believe has been raced and is not quite "original".
I'm just north and a bit west of Chicago. Where are you?
there's plenty of visible rust - has this been in - no one touched it - storage ? Can we expect that all the rubber is rotted?
Capt_bj,
Yes, there is rust, most of which is surface rust.
Does not run at the moment, as the hoses were cut when the fluids (including oil) were drained. Ran when I shut it down and put oil in the cylinders.
No, no one has touched it. Other than a trip to a shop where (most of) those pictures were taken, it has simply been in very dry storage. New tires were mounted in 2004, and as yet there is neither visible wear (no miles) nor visible rot.
