hello

Hello, I just bought a 2005 Mini hatchback with high mileage, can anybody tell me more about my car? I heard it has a Chrysler engine? My Mini was obviously well cared for and never having had one, I am curious as to their durability. Oh and I also would like to get that center armrest that bolts in under the rear seat bolts, anyone know where they are available from? The dealer tried to sell me the retrofit kit for $328. dollars.

Your car was designed by Germans. It's engine is in fact a Chrysler engine, that was assembled in Brazil. Final assembly of the car was in Oxford, England.

The MINI is truly a product of globalization, eh?

Very reliable, but parts are expensive. Being owned by BMW...

MINI's are reasonably reliable, however as you will see on this forum they are not immune to certain problems, so read the postings and you will get an idea of things that may involve your '05, particularly as result of the high mileage. That being said enjoy your MINI and drive it to your hearts content.
