2006 MCS

I just bought my first Mini, its a 2006 Cooper S, automatic, gray with a white roof and white bonnet stripes. The clutch in my old car was killing my knee so I figured the automatic would be a good choice. I've been a long time Subaru owner but got frustrated with their reliability over the past few years.

The dealer only had one key. What is the best option for getting a second? I am located in Boise, so the closest dealers are all about 8 hours away (Portland, Seattle, Utah). I am also missing the owners manual. Is this available online or should I just order one off ebay?

The car has a slight mushrooming on the drivers side strut tower but the car still drives straight. I just ordered some Craven Speed under tower indurators and tower defenders to prevent any future problems. Should I also replace the stock strut mounts?

What is the best option for adding an aux input? The deck has an aux mode but I can't find a port in the glove box.

Welcome!

Manuals can be downloaded in the Owner's Lounge, or MotoringFile if you'd rather not register.

There are a lot of useful video clips regarding Mini instrument and functions walkthrough as well in Owner's Lounge. Pretty cool

The aux input is available from a dealer, or on line... Simple install, and cost is about 40 bucks. Do it yourself, and put it where you like, not necessarily in the glove box!

To get a second key, I was able to call the dealer and fax them the information they requested. Have your credit card ready when you call and they'll ship it to you.

How much is this going to cost? I guess I can have them ship the aux input at the same time.

Thanks for all the replies.

I just found a nail in my right rear tire. Hopefully the dealer I got it from will fix it or replace the tire.

I don't know but if you contact Jayson at bmwparts@classicautocampus.com you'll get a discount if you tell him you are a NAM member.

Master Key with the chrome MINI emblem on it that activates doors/trunk/windows is about $160 you'll need your license and title. The valet key that only open and locks doors manually, is alot cheaper, I forgot how much.
The dealer usually has the Aux input in stock for $39-45, install yourself I had my gf plug it in (without stereo removal) she was able to get her hand around stereo and plug it in. I ran cable behind euro shelf and mounted there.

Well the dealer fixed the nail in my run flat. But now I have a coolant leak coming from the middle of the engine. From searching the forums it is probably the thermostat housing. I will post a picture later.

I got a quote on a valet key, $65+15 shipping. That seems a little overpriced but I have no other option.

I finally got a picture of the coolant leak. I had to crop this down so hopefully it will be helpful. This is just right of the engine. Any ideas?

I believe the dealer added some type of leak stop because when I originally checked the coolant overflow tank it was full of a clear sticky substance. Link http://valvoline.com/products/consum...-treatments/47
