How to reset Service Indicator

I just had my car serviced locally and not at my mini dealer. The did not reset the indicator and I don't know how to. Must that be done by the service provider? Thanks for your help.

There are a couple ways to reset the service indicator/counter.

1) Manually using the steps outlined in the NAM Alliance Article (Issue 1 Page 22). You can download the Alliance Online Magazines from NAM at the following link http://www.northamericanmotoring.com/alliance.
I have found that the manual process does not always work the first time and it usually takes me a couple tries to get it right.

There is also a Alliance DIY Index that you might want to review for other helpful articles. The link is http://www.northamericanmotoring.com...liance_diy.php

2) The easiest way to reset the service indicator is to use the Peake Code Reader/Reset Tool sold by many NAM vendors. Here is a link to one vendor that sells the tool http://www.mossmini.com/Shop/ViewPro...eIndexID=70545 you can search around for a better price.
