Here, finally

Just about to place my first order. Came over to the mini-side after everyone I have ever met that has owned one loves it so much they would be buried with it when they die.

Thinking MCS Dark Silver with Red Lounge Leather. Also, debating manual or auto. I hear the auto is nice with paddle shifters and I haven't driven a stick since high school. But, will I compromise the mini-experience?

Currently drive a FX35, red. Love it but want better MPG and zip.

Welcome to NAM

For me having an automatic would compromise the MINI driving experience but for others it does not so that part is really subjective & up to you. I would suggest test driving both before making your decision

I'm not sure of what you are looking for with the mini-experience. I'm happy with the auto-stick in the wife's car. As suggested, try both if you have the opportunity. Of course, I'll freely admit I'm biased -- I have a Tiptronic on my Boxster.

I ordered my car with an automatic just for the convenience (I was never a fan of shifting). Both are fun to drive. My husband likes to shift, but since this is my primary car, I got to pick!

Something to keep in mind, however, if you're really interested in gas mileage, the stick has a better rating.

Great color combo, BTW (not that I'm biased or anything).

I think I'll go stick in an attempt to bring back my youth. Looks like we have the same taste. I'm still debating wheels. The JCW black mattes or an aftermarket choice.

Personally, I love the JCWs. We have the chrome though -- better combo with a Pepper-white black top.
