02 Mini sits where a 96 jetta once did

Hello everyone, I am here to introduce myself.

My name is Andrew, i drive an 18 foot Referigirated delivery truck for work.
and i just picked up an 02 mini Yesterday (thu).

I absolutely love it, every little quirky feature, new car smell, everything.
But, I digress...

you all want to see her.

02 Mini cooper, Winter Package, Manual transmission, 64K, Already dusty

After my introduction, i have a few questions reguarding the mini in general

1) Does the power steering on the mini sound louder, (from exterior of car).
or is it just me? When i went to the mcdonalds drivethrough, i heard a high pitch whine. nothing too much for comfort, but
(example) At a stand still, if i turn the wheel the power steering "whine" corresponds. and gets a tad louder.

2) These gears dont want you to shift at 3k rpm, like most cars, do they?
my mini, at least, feels like it shifts better around 3500, or 4000.

3) What does the button below the parking brake do? you know, the one with like an exclamation mark on it.
I am baffled, or just missing something.

4) is there an AUX input on the back of these OEM Stereos?
to wire up the ipod

5) People like to look at the mini
that's not a question, just an observation

anyway, i look foreward to contributing to the forums, especially the New england Branch. because, that's where my mini runs free.

Andrew

Hiya Andrew. Welcome to NAM and congrats on your MINI

You'll learn to love dust...it "forces" you to spend time bonding with your MINI as you wash/wax it. It's a labor of love really.
