We were thinkning of camping as well, if you are tent camping there are appears to be a lot of sites around Dillon resevoir. You can't make online reservations for tent sites only for RV sites. So it's first come first server from what we can tell. Dillon/Silverthorne is reallyonly like a 10-15 minute drive from Cooper. Hope that helps some.

www.TownofFrisco.com and there are links there to the Dillon Reservoir camping information, mentioned above. The other towns basically connected there are Silverthorne and Dillon, all within 10 miles of Copper. While this is not rural, remember that much of Colorado is vertical and other than sheep etc. there is not much population between certain locales.
Finding a place to pitch a tent shouldn't be a problem. It's that hot shower which might be illusive. I just remembered that Copper has a really nice spa/health club, we checked it out a couple ski season ago, which does have hot water. I'll probably opt for a workout and shower there, if it's going to be a PITA to find one at a campground...
It's a good thing that Mini and the makers of those ugly SUVs Aztecs never combined forces. Though, it would be useful for you in the campgrounds this weekends
