I wouldn't say that it rarely rains, but the mountain showers are usually short, to the point of taking you by surprise then back to sunny and clear in minutes, which means be prepared for anything (wet, cold, dry, hot).

Thanks for posting a few days ago the directions to the Western Dragon . My navigator is a native of Denver and he did not know about this scenic drive. I will be driving from Tucson a couple of days before MITM to visit with Rays' (navigator) parents then heading up to Copper mtn. I will be trying out the minifini cargo hold link, I will try not to load too much on it.
It looks like the temperature will be a lot cooler then in Tucson and I will be able to drive with the top down on my orange convertible during the day! Hopefully this post has made it to the forum since this is my first time on the forum. I do not know where my last reply went!

and as always, a 20% chance of you-know-what! (Bring the sunscreen)
I don't know if the weather pattern is going to change much by next week, but we've been having a "monsoonal" flow for the past week and a half in the central mountains. Generally this means cooler weather and afternoon rain storms. The rain doesn't last too long, (maybe an hour, and usually not very hard) but it's rained in Aspen part of the day for nearly two weeks now. Not saying it won't be nice weather, just be prepared.

The long range forecast from the experts (right) shows a bit of warming to the low 70's during the day, and still chances for precip. We have recommended from the beginning that MITM attendees equip themselves with a light jacket and a sweatshirt so as to be prepared.
Nothing like info from the local guides. Thanks, please keep us updated.

As always, bring a jacket and a sweatshirt. Remember too that at 14,264 ft up Mt. Evans, it is always somewhat cooler, especially at night, nekkid.
