I know this might sound like blasphemy but my wife and I are bringing our mountain bikes up to Copper. Is anyone else interested in doing some mountain biking while you're there? We plan on getting a lift ticket and having them take us to the top and ride down. It would take us all day to ride to the top hehe.
I'm not sure if Copper offers this but I know Keystone does. So if anyone is interested and want to try get a group together let me know. You can rent a bike at the resorts too. We'll probably only do this for half a day or a few hours depending on how tired/hungry we get.

According to our Copper Mountain Resort liason, during the summertime, the chairlift ride to the top is free at Copper Mountain. [Update: Chairlift ride is free for hikers, pedestrians, etc., fee for ferrying bike to top.] No blasphemy, you can still do the night rides, in your MINI, of course.
Just saw a map of the mountain biking and hiking trails at Copper. Looks fun. We'll definitely take part in the day time rides. We're just going to do some mountain biking as well during the day.
edit: Searched Copper's web site some more and found out the American Eagle will take you and your bike to the top for $14/day. That's not a bad deal if you just want to ride downhill hehe. Don't get me wrong, it's still a work out but at least you save your energy for the downhills and not having a heart attack trying to get to the top.

the LIFT is free, there is no charge to take it up. It runs to mid-afternoon and so it is available to all.
There are a bzillion trails, too. Best bet: Drive to the top of Vail Pass (10 miles up from Copper). Have her drop you off. Bike the path down (darts in and out of the Interstate ROW). End at Copper. Not an uphill stroke, beautiful quick 10 mile ride...and CAN be done in the dark...remember, we have a FULL MOON!!
There's only one problem with her dropping me off at the top of Vail Pass. She'll get jealous and want to ride as well hehe. It'll also look funny with her bike on top of SPOON driving me back and forth. She loves me but I don't think she loves me enough to just shuttle me back and forth like that.

Well, wasn't planning on taking my Mtn Bike, but hey, with free lift up the mountain, I might just have to figure out a way to make it work. Any advice on boot bike adaptors. Don't want to have to buy a whole roof rack.
Fruita has some nice single track from what everyone has been telling me. We haven't made it out there yet. If you start your week out early you can hit Fruita before MITM.
Sorry but I'm not sure about boot bike adaptors. SPOON has the roof rack with the bike carriers on top. I splurged on that when I bought him because I knew if I didn't get it during the initial purchase it might take years to get something set up hehe.
Let us know if you want to hook up for some riding. We'll probably arrive Friday afternoon/early evening so we'll probably ride that afternoon or possibly Saturday some time. I want to try and stay injury free Sunday so I can drive back home.
jsous, Thanks for the offer. We might actually take you up on that.

at Copper, and everywhere else. Closest stop: town of Frisco, town of Dillon, town of Silverthorne. All within 10 miles, but again - they are right in the resort. Best idea for us non bikers? Rent it, carry it to the top on the lift, ride it down. All you need are brakes....
The wife and I are going to arrive by 1200 on Friday. We'll drop SPOON off for some work done by Mike of Aesthetic Creations then hit the slopes for some mountain biking.
If anyone wants to come with us that would be great. If not then be careful out there and we'll see you later in the weekend. If things go well on Friday then it will probably be a scouting run and we'll ride again on Saturday afternoon.
For those of you that are wondering what kind of riding we do then we usually ride single track. Nothing too crazy where we need to wear body armor though.
