When I first got my new MCS (PS/B), I decided that I was going to do all my own detailing instead of paying someone else tons of money to do it for me. After reading about a million posts on this forum, I decided to go the Zymol route.

Originally, I got Zymol Creame wax, Zymol HD Cleanse paint cleaner, Clay Magic Claybar, Vinylex (for the leatherette) and 303 for the plastic bits as my hardcore (aka pricey) products. I then bought Meguiar's Bubble Bath soap and Meguiar's Mist n' Shine (or whatever) which are pretty inexpensive.

I have stated before that I hated the HD Cleanse, and I did, but I'm going to make yet another thread regarding my new found appreciation for the stuff...so let's just leave that alone for now.

Claybar is great, really gets down to smoothness for pre-wax. I really liked the Zymol as well, and I applied by hand since I heard that that method was acceptable for some of their other waxes. Frankly, I have been very impressed with the longevity of the wax and with the real shine and transparency that it has to offer.

Recently I went to stock up on some products at Emmons Coachworks (they have an online store if you're interested!) and ended up having long discussions about the relative merits of Zymol and/or Zaino and/or other products. The store owner convinced me that I shouldn't be using the Meguiar's Mist n' Shine with the Zymol wax because of the chemicals in the Meguiar's will actually inhibit wax absorption, adhesion and therefore longevity over time. I therefore substituted Zymol Detail for the Mist n' Shine. I also picked up some Zymol wheel cleaner and Zymol Clear soap.

Well, after a couple more washes a couple applications of wax and with the addition of the Zymol Detail, COOP looks sharper than he ever has before. The Clear, though more expensive than the Meguiar's soap, is phenomenal. I can't believe how much the car shine with only a wash and dry. I don't even have to use any "glossifiers" at all, and it has a great shine already!

I really believe that Zymol is a great product, and I like the fact that it's basically all natural products. I have not used Zaino, but that company's failure to expand on what exactly is going into their products leaves me a little nervous, but I do realize that alot of people like that stuff and swear by it, and that's fine.

I just want to stand up and say that Zymol is the only thing that I will ever use on my Cooper. Period.

I'll post some pics of the glory soon!

Maxwell
