I know Ken responded, but I will say "maybe" as the answer.
The question to be asked is how long did the bird crap sit on the roof before you cleaned it up?
The real answer to that--is it almost doesn't matter because your paint will be etched within seconds of when the poo sits on the paint. But if it's sitting there for a long time, the difference in etching, is similar to acid.
Take some acid, put it on your paint. Remove it right away and you've got a surface etching that can be buffed away. Leave it longer and the acid literally burns a hole, and now the only way to fix it is to add paint!
